Over the past couple of years I've given a presentation to college students entitled "From Cowboy to Astronaut." This presentation details some of the things I've learned during the progression of my days as a student at Oklahoma State University all the way to my current job at Barkley in Kansas City. Previously I would spend about 10 minutes giving my history. I didn't like the amount of time that took, yet I felt I had some important bits of information to share. So, I condensed it all into this 2 minute introductory video. Created in After Effects CS3 with a huge 6000x6000 stitched together Google map.

My first time to shoot a football game and first time to legitimately use the Canon 7D. Congrats to the Cowboys on a great season. Thanks to Coldplay for awesome music.

@1614 is proud to present former Oklahoma State University basketball standout Desmond Mason. During his years at Oklahoma State University, Desmond Mason blossomed as a basketball player under the coaching of Eddie Sutton. He appeared in 3 NCAA tournaments, while advancing to the Elite 8. Mason’s basketball career was extended when he was drafted by the Seattle Supersonics with the 17th pick of the NBA Draft’s first round. Desmond’s time at OSU not only helped his basketball skills, but helped developed his real passion, which was the arts. During his senior season Desmond started to get noticed nationally not for just his basketball talent, but his artistic ability as well, garnering a feature in Sports Illustrated. "As I look at my paintings, when you paint something and you don't like it you can paint and start over. You can't start over in life, but if you take life as a daily thing, the next day is a new canvas." In 2004 Desmond founded the Desmond Mason Art Show. Sales from his artwork are donated to numerous local charities. He has sold over 130 art pieces to collectors all over the world and has used his artistic talents to inspire kids and help his community. "I look at why I paint, and what I paint for, and how I create..." Mason said. "Emotionally wherever I am, that is what my art reflects. That's really why once I start a piece I try not to stop until I'm done, because that emotion will change." Mason has said, what inspires his art the most is his wife Andrea and their two children Jada and Elijah. Desmond is a true Renaissance Man and is known best for his integrity, philanthropy and passion for positive change. This is a journey of my life through college in pictures I took or were taken of me. Although the pictures are not the best, they elicit strong emotions for me. This was indeed a very personal project. I doubt anyone will enjoy it as much as I do, but I hope it says something to you. This one took me a long time to finish. Granted, it isn't very relevant now, but this is my graduation from Oklahoma State University. I started working on this project right after the graduation but shelved it after impatience and work consumed me. The project spans 4 years of college and 6 USB hard drives, so my computer was choking on it a bit. Yes, I did wear a GoPro on my head for graduation. Taking timelapse and video. Song is "Wishing Well" by The Airborne Toxic Event. The video spans many states, concerts, friends, venues, road trips, sporting events, countries, bands, festivals, birthdays and everything in between.

Last year we created a "Day in the Life" video for the Hogan Award finalists. I couldn't think of how we could do a similar thing and make it different, so I came up with the idea of the finalists talking about being nominated, Ben Hogan the man and then the Hogan Award itself. I then went into the Hogan Room, and collected a bunch of random shots of the trophy. I borrowed a slider from someone... unfortunately I had to fight against a loose head, but it worked out well enough. Shot using Canon 7D 70-200L f/2.8 IS 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS 50 f/1.4

Project for Digital Design Studio Fall 2012. We were asked to spotlight a member of the Stillwater, OK community. My video focuses on Ben Allen, host of the "Morning Edition" on KOSU, a NPR radio station in Oklahoma. I shot footage of Ben at work, in the field, and our interview to piece together this short documentary. The video won Gold in the Video and Film category in the 2012 Creative Lightning Awards. Footage shot with Canon 7D. Some footage shot by Bayley Jackson. Edited in Adobe After Effects. Audio edited with Adobe Audition. Music for the video is "Calling" by Dexter Britain (http://www.dexterbritain.co.uk) For more information on KOSU or Ben Allen visit www.kosu.org.
