An animation showing edits to the www.OpenStreetMap.org project during 2008. OpenStreetMap is a wiki-style map of the world and this animation displays a white flash each time a way is entered or updated. Some edits are a result of a physical local survey by a contributor with a GPS unit and taking notes, other edits are done remotely using aerial photography or out-of-copyright maps, and some are bulk imports of official data. OpenStreetMap started in 2004 and the rate of contributions is accelerating with four times as many people contributing to the project in 2008 compared to 2007. During the year, edits were made by some 20,000 individuals and there were bulk imports of data for many places, including the USA, India, Italy and Belarus which are clearly visible in the animation. LiquiData is a multitouch application to explore your personal movement profile and to show other people engaging places by adding photos and comments with the help of your smartphone. It can be seen as a rating system that offers people the possibility to discover new spots in an unknown surrounding e.g. during a city-visit. Although a smartphone is not necessary to interact with the system, it offers you the possibility to give insights to your movements through the city and lets you compare your mental map with the reality. For instance, this system could give guests of a hotel (lobby) the option to share their walked trails and show other visitors their favorite coffee shops or parks. addititional Infos at http://www.liquidata.org/

This is a quick demonstration of how you can import osm data into Cinema4D and easily do a random extrude using mograph extrude and random effectors. You can get a free demo of this plugin at http://cinemaplugins.com/c4d-plugins/osm-importer/ Music: Gibbon by Pierlo (http://www.upitup.com)

This is something I have had in place for along time and I am currently considering a public release for it. With this importer, you can get huge OSM data sets into c4d and convert them into splines objects.you can interactively filter out the elements which you don't need and converting to splines retains the objects name and type, ect. If you really know what your doing, you can also convert and retain geographic coordinates which lets you keep the data in map space(only interesting if your half mad, but has crazy potential in the right hands) I would like to hear from anyone who is interested in this importer and their opinions on its possible applications. www.cinemaplugins.com

This is the first showing of the complete new Smart OSM Object,. This s a revolutionary, and completely new way to bring OSM data, into your scene, and its built right into DEM earth 2. This is the easiest to use, database interface, there is, for openstreetmap data, on any platform. It takes the horrible out of openstreetmap for you, and makes it artist accessible. No other application makes it this easy to extract what you need from the OSM Database, when you need it. This video also shows the new Smart Extruder, which pushes the boundaries of what you can do in Cinema4D, by linking the elements of DEM Earth and Smart OSM, to provide an amazingly fast, intelligent and accurate building block extruder. Smart Extruder uses both terrain height ,and real world scale information from DEM Earth, to extrude buildings, to sensible and realistic heights, relative to your DEM Earth landscape. www.cinemaplugins.com

Preview of a fully interactive (and totally accurate) Dem Object in Cinema4D. This Earth Dem object has automatic load balancing and some highly efficient dynamic memory managment which results realtime, on the fly loading and unloading of NASA's 30m world data set, right in Cinema4D. All you need to do is create the object , and enter your geographic coordinate. To fly from one place to the next, simply enter the destination coordinate as a keyframe and hit play. You can dynamically modify the sea level for flood simulation and automaticaly multiply the mesh resolution at render time. If you wanted to, you could fly the entire planet at a resolution of around 30meters with this generator. If anyone needs this please get in touch.I might consider a public release at some point. But Im still not sure if anyone really wants to use Cinema4D for this type of work, so we will lhave to see.

Ease of use. You can now simply drag a world file into c4d and Dem earth will automatically set everything up for you.It doesnt get any easier than this. I have also added the ability to drive a gradient shader through The Dem Earth object for some realtime interactive gradient shading. www.cinemaplugins.com Music: Helix Nebula by Anamanaguchi (http://www.anamanaguchi.com/) Music: Helix Nebula by Anamanaguchi (http://www.anamanaguchi.com/)

A visualisation of the response to the earthquake by the OpenStreetMap community. Within 12 hours the white flashes indicate edits to the map (generally by tracing satellite/aerial photography). Over the following days a large number of additions to the map are made with many roads (green primary, red secondary) added. Also many other features were added such as the blue glowing refugee camps that emerge. A lot of these edits were made possible by a number of satellite and aerial imagery passes in the days after the quake, that were release to the public for tracing and analysis.
