Featuring the Huns versus the Romans and Odabella’s unstoppable path towards avenging her father’s death, our Attila trailer video is full of action. Most impressive though, is the showcase of star-powered voices that command the music and remind us why Verdi is the master of Italian opera.

The Kids to Concerts (KtC) educational outreach program was begun in 2001 as a partnership with the Mexican Cultural Institute. They provided the concert hall, and we produced performances to which students were transported. Responding to logistical problems with this model, MBAW decided in 2009 to move KtC directly into the schools. Today, KtC is a series of up to 15 live interactive music lesson/concerts played annually in San Antonio public schools—5 each in K-5, middle schools, and high schools—at no charge to the school districts. These lesson/music performances are calibrated to the participating school’s curriculum. They meet established national and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) music curriculum standards. Teachers are able to test student learning, using evaluation forms provided by MBAW that are custom-developed by our associated music educators, including Dr. Anya Grokhovski and Dr. Annalisa Mendiola. KtC today serves more students, in more age groups, in all four San Antonio independent school districts.
