We need HELP...a lot, and SOON! This is another HUGE step in helping educate the world about the orcas. The new film picks up the story from the Southern Residents (and INCLUDES them again, in a VERY specific way) but also tells of a new - and unsettling - mystery affecting killer whales of the North American Pacific coast. Every moment we wait, the situation changes. The new film talks about the endangered eco types, the thriving ones ....and ones so in-flux, no one really knows how they're doing. We aim to find out. Please, HELP us to tell this story! http://www.gofundme.com/apexorca

This is an infomercial about the health concerns of orcas who live in captivity and how those concerns contrast the lives they would live in the wild oceans. I modeled and rigged the whale used in this project, as well as created several 2D elements. There was some compositing and animating in After Effects necessary as well. This was a collaboration with two other animators.

British Columbia is really beautiful and full of excitement, at least that is my conclusion after a three weeks trip with Nature Trek Canada. Starting in Vancouver we went up north to Stewart and Hyder and crossed the border with Alaska. Staying on campingsites we cooked delicious meals. From the Bear Glacier to the Salmon Glacier, with a jetboat up the Exchamsik River. Seeing the N'sga Lavabeds was impressive. By sea-plane we got to Porcher island an stay there for 5 days in total isolation. Inside Passage is a great experience. We also spent 2 days in Johnstone Strait and saw those fantastic animals: humpbacks, dolphins, orcas and minke whales. And ..... I got some wonderful friends with this vacation.

Samantha Berg was a killer whale trainer at SeaWorld, Florida. When she left the company and following the death of one of her workmates by one of the animals, she became disillusioned with the industry of captive marine mammals. Currently Samantha exposes the facts behind these businesses and questions the ethics of keeping orcas in captivity and the risks they expose their handlers. She currently coordinates Voice of the Orcas for the protection of these animals along with other former trainers. In October 2013, Samantha was in Madrid presenting the documentary Blackfish .

2014 "We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations. Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death." —Anais Nin Music: The Deep Listening Band: Geocentric
