This video was created with footage shot for an Orphans & Widows Fund PSA. The PSA was only 30 seconds so i used the surplus footage and cut this piece together. I do not own the music rights, the rights to the footage belong to DSTV. I put this together for the sole purpose of showcasing my, camera, lighting and editing skills.

An interview with Eiko Mitsutomi who watched over many postwar orphans of mixed race after WWII ended in Nagasaki, Japan and Matt Miller whose father was one of the orphans that Eiko took care of. The interview is in Japanese w/ English subtitles. There are a few mistakes the interviewer made, particularly my father`s stay in the orphanage was 5 years from 5-10years not 4 years from 6-10years old. https://www.worldofchildren.org/issues/street-children/ - Every day, children who live on the streets of Brazil face violence, abuse, drug addiction and other threats to their daily survival. In 1992, Gregory John Smith sold all of his possessions in Norway and moved to São Paulo, Brazil, with the goal to save at least 1 child from life on the streets. In 2014, he was honored with the World of Children Humanitarian Award, due in no small part to the success of his program over the past 22+ years in not only rescuing children from the streets of Brazil but also helping to prevent such a horrible lifestyle from ever beginning. Thailand is home to a thriving sex-industry, with estimates of over 2 million prostitutes working in the Red Light Districts across the country. Thailand's Health System Research Institute estimates that 40% of the prostitutes in Thailand are children. Often, children are kidnapped or sold into this form of modern-day slavery. In poverty stricken areas, children can be sold for as little as a bag of rice. The poverty in the high-mountain villages of Northern Thailand puts children at risk for more than just human trafficking. In these under-developed areas, children can suffer from malnutrition, a lack of basic medical care, and physical and sexual abuse. In 2011, The Sound of Hope raised the funds to help our Thai partners purchase and renovate a new Children's Home in Northern Thailand. This brand new girls home opened in 2013. Here children from impoverished villages will be given a safe, loving home and an education. They will also learn sustainable life skills on the property, such as farming, fishing and raising livestock. We're excited to see these precious girls thrive in their new home!
