            • A Beautiful Ocean Sunset From Marina State Beach (1-23-2015)

This video shows a lovely, calming ocean sunset from Marina State Beach, located around Marina, CA, just off highway 1. Just sit back and relax as the sun slowly sets into the open Pacific Ocean... This was part of the Monterey Bay as well, with the Monterey Peninsula visible to the left. It was my own mini outing by the sea! Marina State Beach, at the Reservation Road exit just off Highway 1, has a sandy beach and steady winds that make it a popular place for surfing, kite flying and even hang gliding. Sunsets at Marina State Beach are a daily community event, bringing out locals and visitors alike, just like myself! *Summary of my outing: It was that special time again when I made a road trip to the beach. This time, I went south to Marina State Beach in Marina, CA. Of course recently, I've always been going up north to San Francisco and I am starting to miss the coastline south of Santa Cruz! Since gas is cheap in recent days...and since the weather was pleasant...and there was no coastal fog or clouds hugging the coastline, I was encouraged to make this trip...a trip to see an ocean sunset! It's been a while since I've seen the solar disk actually clearly touch the ocean horizon (and no the ocean sunset from just last month at Lands End doesn't count since there were too much high clouds on the horizon). After chilling at home and watching the movie, The Mask of Zorro, I left to head to Marina State Beach shortly after 3 p.m. It was traffic in some parts (especially just leaving home) but I have made it to the place safely just after 4:15 p.m. The weather was perfect and there was hardly any wind. At the time, there were big waves! Apparently I have came during the 'king tide'. The king tides occur when the Earth, Moon and Sun are aligned at perigee and perihelion, resulting in the largest tidal range seen over the course of a year. I made my 'camp' area and then just enjoyed the views around the beach, while taking self portraits and whatnot. Then as the sun started to inch closer to the horizon, I moved up on a leveled area on the beach and began my ultimate reason as to why I came here...a sunset by the sea! *click, snap, click, snap*... After the sunset, I went back up to my car and chilled there a bit until early evening. As I was actually about to leave (I even turned on my car), I saw the moon and Venus up above over the dusk skies. So why not stay for some astronomy shots, too! So I went back out and I managed to capture an alignment of the moon, Mars and Venus (which I also forgot about)! The heavenly alignment above the Monterey Peninsula below was a dazzling sight... All in all, it was a successful, but tiring day. Next stop....Carmel-By-The-Sea? (Outing taken place on Friday, January 23, 2015)

Watching a beautiful ocean sunset from the Pacifica Pier in Pacifica, CA! The lingering high clouds have added to the beauty. Thankfully, there wasn't any coastal fog, or marine layer so we got to see the sun actually touch the ocean horizon. The clouds above had later turned fiery as soon as the sun had dipped below the horizon. I'll never get tired of seeing sunsets by the sea! It was a big Sunday for my family and I. We sort of did like a double event: we first celebrated my cousin Racquelle's 18th birthday earlier this day at Tomi Seafood Buffet, and then ultimately, we then gathered here at Pacifica Pier at Pacifica, CA to do some crabbing! We even met up with my cousin J.J. in the process! We hardly see him so it was a special treat. *Summary Of Our Day Here In Pacifica Pier* It was late afternoon when we arrived to the Pacifica Pier. The weather was very nice...lots of sun and especially, no coastal fog (karlthefog)! After taking care of the parking issue, we made our camp on the pier. There were a lot of people fishing and crabbing as well, but mostly of fishing. After waiting for everyone else to arrive, we then set up the crabbing nets around our area of the pier. The weather was perfect and it wasn't windy...usually it is. After a while, the sun was setting so that was when I moved to the end of the pier to photograph and video the setting sun over the vast, clear Pacific Ocean... After enjoying my ocean sunset alone, I headed back to our camp. As for the crabs, we caught one ever since we arrived but it was even barely big enough so I think one of us threw it back. Overall, we caught no crab! But despite the disappointment of not getting anything, we still enjoyed our time together as a family by the sea. We also enjoyed the sunset (me the most) and just having the thrill of crabbing and pulling up the nets to see if there was life in those nets or not. We stayed at the pier until around 8 p.m. We left the pier after taking some family group pics. Then we all went our separate ways... It was certainly a fun Sunday with my fambam! (Family outing taken place Sunday, February 15, 2015)

In this video, it shows me and my family enjoy a short time around Pacific Grove, CA, despite the cold weather conditions. **My family went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA this day. It was like a family hangout and it was also for my cousin Shanon's early birthday celebration. This video only shows the last part of our trip during our visit here around the Monterey Peninsula...We came here at Pacific Grove after eating at the Chopstix restaurant in Monterey for our early dinner and to celebrate my cousin Shanon's 17th birthday. So in this video it shows us travel along Ocean View and then we stopped at one of the parking areas just off the road. We climbed rocks around the tide pools of Pacific Grove, CA. I enjoyed the time together by the sea with some of my cousins and family, though it was a bit too chilly for some of us. Only me and a few of my cousins and Richie and sis actually went out and climbed on the rocks around the tide pools. It was low tide so we were able to walk on an area of boulders just off the coast of the main land! We took pictures, enjoyed the scenery and simply breathed in the fresh incoming, misty sea breeze. It was then starting to get a bit late and also the water was coming in that means the high tide was starting! The water was a bit higher than before when we walked cautiously back to the main shore. My mom and Auntie Elsa were making burgers for us to eat when we got back to the parking. I was still too full from dinner earlier. I was just sipping on my mango pearl drink smoothie from the restaurant earlier. Richie was also trying to pretend to feed the seagulls lol. It was too bad it wasn't sunny for us to see the sunset. Nonetheless, it was a wonderful day out with my family!
