Donbass Dialogue — a diapason of the peacebuilding The Project Donbass Dialogue focuses on the range of issues that are associated with the establishment and stabilization of peace process in Donbass using the mechanism of crowdsourcing. Проект Донбасский Диалог нацелен на решение круга проблем, связанных с учреждением и стабилизацией мирного процесса в Донбассе, с помощью механизма краудсорсинга. All those who were affected by war in Donbass are waiting for the project: families, single persons and professional groups. All who suffered from the process of the conflict directly, due to an immediate threat and losses incurred, or indirectly, due to experiencing political, economical, cultural or any other consequences of the military conflict in the South-East of Ukraine. Only constant dialogue is a guarantee that every effort will not go to pieces in a moment when a misunderstanding or provocation brings the parties to a new round of violence. Только постоянно поддерживаемый диалог является гарантией, что все усилия не пойдут прахом в один момент, когда недоразумение или провокация столкнёт стороны на новый виток насилия. The African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD - accord.org.za) is building an Africa Peace Centre to support peacebuilding efforts on the continent of Africa. The African Century will be founded on Africa's ability to find solutions to her own challenges. Her challenges of conflict, of development, her search for peace. African solutions to African challenges. Out of this belief has grown ACCORD's vision of an Africa Peace Center. A neutral site, in Africa, where the continent's leaders can forge a passage away from conflict and violence, and towards peace. A vision of the African continent, as it should be – free of violence and economic dependency. Where the resolution of conflict leads to significant economic achievements and a better life for all her people. The primary objective of the Africa Peace Centre will be to influence political developments on the continent by bringing conflict resolution, dialogue and institutional development to the forefront as an alternative to armed violence and protracted conflict. The Centre will specialize in conflict management, analysis and prevention and will intervene in conflicts through mediation, negotiation, training, research and conflict analysis. The Africa Peace Centre will be a state-of-the-art complex which will act as a base for high level conflict intervention and continuous research and training. It will also incorporate a resource and documentation centre, a meeting and training centre, a conference venue, 80 guest residences and a number of VIP houses. The complex will also house the ACCORD offices. The Africa Peace Centre vision has already received the support of key political, business and civil society leaders throughout Africa and the world. ACCORD has forged a partnership with the City of Durban to make the Centre a reality.

This Live Seminar (originally broadcast on February 24, 2011) examined mechanisms and strategies to promote accountability for IHL violations committed during counterinsurgencies, focusing on the case of Sri Lanka. Against the backdrop of domestic and international efforts to address IHL violations committed during the counterinsurgency in Sri Lanka, this Live Seminar addressed the following questions: --What aspects, if any, of counterinsurgency doctrine have the potential to affect adherence to IHL principles? --What accountability mechanisms—judicial or otherwise—exist regarding IHL violations committed during non-international armed conflicts? --What accountability mechanisms are currently being implemented, and what potential mechanisms are under consideration? --What legal and political challenges arise in the context of multiple, simultaneous accountability mechanisms aimed at addressing the same counterinsurgency situation? --What role, if any, should humanitarian actors play in promoting adherence to international norms in counterinsurgency situations? These questions were examined by reference to the situation in Sri Lanka. Panelists included: Jon Lee Anderson, The New Yorker Alan Keenan, International Crisis Group Ambassador Dr. Palitha T.B. Kohona, Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations Sam Zarifi, Amnesty International
