The Premium Quality Bike is a bicycle built for the presentation of Heineken at the Prague designblok 2012. The main ideas of the bike are tradition and affiliation to a specific region, which are seen on the bicycle through the components. The imaginary core of the bike is a historical frame made by the Czech brand Eska, which is delicately completed with components from all over the world. Each part brings something of its own and altogether they create a coherent set worth the attention of the onlooker, not unlike the attention the exhibitors attract at events like designblok. Krom zmiňovaného českého rámu Eska, upraveného do firemních barev, je zastoupena Velká Británie (sedlo a omotávky Brooks, kliky a náboje Sturmey Archer), Francie (ráfky), Německo (pláště Schwalbe), Japonsko (pedály MKS), Itálie (vidlice Campagnollo, hlavové složení a řetěz Miche), Řecko (dřevěná přepravka Gotham Cargo), Spojené Státy Americké (zámek Kryptonite) a další. Apart from the previously mentioned Czech Eska frame, modified into brand colors, the represented countries are Great Britain (Brooks saddle and handlebar tape, turmey Archer crankset and hubs), France (rims), Germany (Schwalbe tires), Japan (MKS pedals), Italy (Campagnolo fork, Miche headset and chain), Greece (Gotham Cargo wooden box), United States of America (Kryptonite U-lock) etc. All of this is topped off with new aluminum Heineken bottles representing not only themselves but also their country of origin, a country with a strong cycling tradition - The Netherlands. And their local style was decisive for designing and completing the Heineken Premium Bike. Video by: Aether – thanks.

As Dublin has grown wealthier we have become carcooned, basing our personal and city transport system on the car. We know this isn’t working – but what is the alternative and how do we get there. Speaking to academics and elected officials, council planners and staff, campaigners and cyclists - Two Wheeled City constructs a convincing case and viable plan to recast Dublin as a cyclable city. Healthier, cheaper, friendlier, faster – the case for normalising cycling has never been more powerfully put. When you picture a council junket you never see the fold up bike, the ferry and the cycle cafe. DCTV goes on a whirlwind (read cheap and quick – the way we all travel now) trip to look at models for European cycling along with the Dublin City Council cycling officer Ciaran Fallon. Along the way they meet bloggers and fashion designers and activists who all, incidentally, cycle bikes. We see how normal cycling is all across Europe. The establishment of a cycling office in Dublin City Council is part of a visible commitment to cycling as a transport solution in our city. This programme gets inside not only what the cycling officer is dong but what he’s thinking, what he thinks Dublin can look like and what he’s basing some of this on. A look at cycling in the City Center of Dublin. As a transport mode cycling is on the increase in Dublin. This documentary explores some of the many issues facing people who chose to cycle in Dublin. One Less Car doesn’t shy away from complex topics and, sometimes ambiguous or contradictory viewpoints. What emerges is the feel of a groundswell, of a phase transition as the act of re-imagining our city starts to see actual impact and gain critical mass. Part snapshot of the zeitgeist part cycling agit-prop. * Short Version was screened at Stranger Than Fiction - 2010 documentary film festival, short program. * More Information Project: http://www.dctv.ie/main/?p=1671 Released under: Creative Commons http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/ Thanks To: Dublin Cycling Campaign http://www.dublincycling.com/ Rothar http://www.rothar.ie/ Seomra Spraoi http://www.seomraspraoi.org Critical Mass Dublin http://www.facebook.com/pages/Critical-mass-Dublin/373043873053?ref=mf http://www.loserdomzine.com/ Loserdom is a D.I.Y. zine from Dublin, Ireland.
