          On November 7, 2013, Fine Arts Lecture Series presented Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla. Allora and Calzadilla have been collaborating since 1995, exploring ideas of authorship, nationality, borders, democracy, and global society. They utilize sculpture, photography, video, performance, and sound to create metaphors and experiments that explore the relationship between an object and its meaning. They have shown internationally, including representing the USA at the 2011 Venice Biennale, and participated in numerous residencies including PS1, and a DAAD residency. Dagit, Jr., FAIA's lecture on 10.31.13: An overview of the beginnings of American architecture in Colonial America, particularly focused on the architecture of Annapolis and the plantation houses of Virginia. His approach to American architecture is rooted in cultural, philosophical, economic, and political circumstances that created the environment for architects to thrive. It reveals those architects that surfaced and thrived through inventive innovation inspired by the entrepreneurial atmosphere that developed in the colonies and continued through the ensuing decades to the present. Dagit also introduced his current book Louis I Kahn-Architect: Remembering the Man and Those Who Surrounded Him.
