I saw a hollowness in people, and worst, in the children. I had never experienced that in my life. I wanted to leave and never come back. Not because of the rancid smell and filth. I was scared of the dark eyes that held no hope. I was so blinded by what they could do to hurt me, I never once thought of what I could do to help them. Nor, could I look at them without my own eyes full of distrust. I hurt myself with those thoughts. Only when editing this footage did I see what was really happening around us. They were not aggressive, they were curious. The people I thought were getting "too close" just wanted to see what we were doing. They were not angry, their life is hard. Yes, they are going to get rowdy when it comes time to eat, that maybe the only time all week they have a full meal that wasn't dug out of someone else's garbage. Wouldn't you get excited?! The smiles you see while they worship come from their hearts and are real. During those brief moments you can see the light sparkle and return. Those smiles are beautiful, and their light is worth saving. That is why I am thankful for people like Marc, Bobby and David. People that will lay their fears aside and say "I will be the love of Jesus. I will bring hope to the hopeless". I ask that when you watch this, you watch it twice. Once to see with your head, and once again to see with your heart. "Lord open our eyes so we can see". -Jamie
