This summer, Denver production legends Futuristic Films and motion design boutique Spillt came together to create a truly innovative and never before seen event for Forever 21 and Space150. This unique collaboration combined the full gamut of production capabilities including using 3D rendering techniques, custom screens, green screen video shoots, high-end projectors, special effects, and tens of thousands of key frames. We created a never-before-seen fashion show experience. This new event premiered during the Forever 21 store grand opening in Vienna, Austria and has since been seen in similar events in Belgium, London, New York, Los Angeles and many more. The primary goal of the fashion show is to highlight the new line, allowing the audience to look at as many models as possible from as many angles as possible. By infusing the show with holographic technology, we were able to maximize the number of models and the angles from which the audience sees them. When Rene Magritte was asked about his painting Time Transfixed (an image of a train emerging from a lounge room fireplace frozen in time) he said that he simply wanted to “evoke the mystery”. My interest is in exploring this mystery and for me this mystery is tied to the idea of Sehnsucht. Sehnsucht is a German noun that is difficult to translate adequately; it describes a deep emotional state of intense longing. Sehnsucht is sometimes felt as a longing for a far-off country, but not a particular earthly land, which we can identify. Furthermore there is something in the experience that suggests this far-off country is very familiar and indicative of a nostalgic sense of what we might otherwise call "home". The majority of people who experience it are not conscious of what or who the longed for object may be, and the longing is of such profundity and intensity that the subject may immediately be only aware of the emotion itself and not cognizant that there is something longed for. The experience is one of such significance that ordinary reality pales in comparison. The imagery and elements in this installation aim to set up a type of material and perceptual cognitive dissonance. Structurally it originated with the Magritte painting Time Transfixed. Elements such as water, CGI virtual forms (a long lost Thylacine* etc.), peppers ghost (a holographic illusion) and the spherical shaped works are intended to inform both a personal and a universal experience of Sehnsucht. *The Thylacine in this work was created by José Antonio Peñas (Madrid, Spain).

This footage will be projected outside the miniature bay windows which will feature billowing small scale shredded white curtains for the HD DV camera to move past and film, as if 'viewed from inside the building on the second floor' as the 'visitors' move along from right to left in their 'carts'... The scene depicts the many orphan ghosts, children who perished when a train bringing them to the Daark Orphanage was struck by lightning one terrible night, and plummeted into what is now known as The Valley of Despair...their spirits rise endlessly into the night sky, seeking comfort and solitude that can never be had...

A walk through the immersive exhibition by artist Megan Broadmeadow, which was shown at Unit#1, g39 Gallery Cardiff in April/May 2014. Under the Influence - is an exhibition dedicated to the South Wales coal miners jazz bands of the Aberdare region. It is for the men, women and children who in 1926 in the face of the general miners strike whilst facing the loss of their jobs, way of life and at time of unprecedented hardship, decided to dress up, become something other than themselves. The work is a response to their act of parading through their hometown blowing kazoos and bringing a spectacle of extravagant fantasy to the streets. The five-month period of 'Carnivalia' in 1926 is still unprecedented in the normally quiet and conservative mining valleys of Aberdare. It was a life changing time for that community, yet, after the last parade ended, it appears to have all but disappeared from Welsh history, with only a handful of images remaining as testament to the events of that unique summer of abandonment. Videos of imagined characters become images for the audience to speculate on what happened internally within each member of the community as they abandoned their normal identities and become Jazzers and Jazzettes. The immersive nature of the exhibition allows you to wander into a labyrinthine space, combining the carnival beliefs of a world turned upside down, with the journey of the striking miners who ventured up from the subterranean mines into a surface world of protest, parades and noise. The exhibition also features new sound work made with composer SonicVisor, and projection mapping has been supported by Cursor. There will be an accompanying bookwork later in the year as part of an ongoing writing collaboration with Steven Thompson of Aberystwyth University. (time codes for work as seen on video are in brackets): Suspension of Disbelief - projection mapped sculpture. Fabric, chain, projector, LED bar light. (00.31) Hyperventilate – video (01.20) Hyperventilate 2 – video (02.06) Anaglyph 3D - Sculpture inside Peppers ghost illusion ( 02.37) Hyperventilate 3– video (03.30) Music was composed by Sonic Visor.

from Laura Jean Healey / Added

A critically acclaimed work, 'The Siren' is the first life size (High Definition) holographic film installation. The film explores of the nature of the feminine mystique within the screen and the seemingly active gaze of the audience, to reveal the inherent paradoxes and enchanting nature of the seduction of the projected image. It is within the substantial nothingness of the screen that the Siren’s projected presence exists as pure artifice. Filmed entirely underwater in slow motion and originally projected as a life size holographic installation, the film makes the impossible - a women living and breathing underwater - become a reality. Beautiful and haunting, she exists as pure ephemeral light and constructs her own reality, which playing to her supposed nothingness forces the audience to acknowledge her presence, power and autonomy. ‘The Siren’ was awarded the Passion for Freedom 2013 Gold Film Award for it's artistic value and powerful visual message embodying the freedom of women and the MAMA’s Corporate 2012 Award for the most innovative concept and design.
