leprixdelessence.net/blog-danse facebook.com/uneminutededanseparjour oneminuteofdanceaday.tumblr.com 15h50, square Claude-Nicolas-Ledoux, Denfert-Rochereau, Paris 14e. Elle demande : - Are you parisian ? French ? - Yes - Are you parisienne ? Non ? - Yes. Are you ? - Parisienne, I am. Je continue ma danse. Elle dit : - N’importe quoi, n’importe quoi … Non, mais c'est pas vrai... eh oh! - Vous êtes parisienne ? - Oui. - Eh bien, dis donc ! I am sorry. J’adorais danser, ça me manque. 3:50 p.m, Claude-Nicolas-Ledoux square, Denfert-Rochereau, Paris,14th district. An old woman is sitting by herself on a bench. She wears jewels and high heels. I find her to be touching. I sit by her side. She asks me (in english) : Are you parisian ? French ? Yes Are you parisienne ? Non ? Yes. Are you ? Parisienne, I am. I keep on dancing. She says (in french) : Rubbish, are you really parisian ? yes. Well… real parisians don’t behave this way ! No… I am sorry. When the dance is over, I speak to her. She tells me : - I use to be a dancer, a tango dancer, but I don’t go anymore. There is to much vulgarity, even at The Champs-Élysées : mini skirts for women and jeans for men. I loved dancing, I miss it. There are many pictures of me, but I don’t go anymore, to much vulgarity. Paris isn’t Paris anymore. Performance for MiAL Capsule Exhibition at Embassy Tea Gallery in Southwark - 9th April 2015 'Natalie’s work revolves around the question ‘If an art making process is performed does it become theatre? And is the art produced unauthentic, and perhaps not art at all?’ ‘Pierrot’ the piece performed by Natalie (in collaboration with sound artist Tabitha Haynes) at Capsule is a dialogue between chance and control, truth and lies, reality and mediation, art and theatre. It seeks to question whether the art lies in the performance or the product, and whether either of these things are theatre or the aftermath of art or theatre. Within the work Natalie is vulnerable as a performer. This could be taken as a metaphor for the vulnerability involved in many art-making processes where the outcome is unknown, unlike the bourgeois theatre where performances are rehearsed endlessly to ensure that there are no cracks or vulnerability evident. The costume used in this performance is based on the costume of Commedia Dell’Arte character Pietrrot. His notorious black and white costume and performance style is synonymous with theatricality, and is also often referenced in fine art by artists such as Paul Klee. Pierrot is often referred to by theatre theorists as the eternally suffering fool or artist.'

Excerpts from the live action/ intervention "Quid pro quo" by Christina Georgiou Description of action: The artist is carrying her mother while walking towards Ledra Palace crossing point, in an endeavor to cross the border of Nicosia. This action is an action of exchange, a favor for a favor for her mother and all the mothers who were carrying their children while moving from place to place during the exile. The artists' mother has been exiled together with her family from the North to the South part of Cyprus in 1974. With this action the artist is transporting her mother back home as a payback. There is a negotiation between mother and child, where the parent that used to be the carrier of the helpless child receives the favor after 37 years, as the child realizes the mother's wish to go back to where she belongs. The child becomes the motivator, because of the mother's endless wish.
