The Chumash Indians, who inhabited the Southern California coastal region, believed that there were three worlds: the world which we inhabit as well as the one above and below us. The world above was the sky and the home of the eagle, sun, moon and the supernatural; the middle world, where humans reside, was held in place by a giant serpent which sometimes moved and caused earthquakes; and the lower world, the water world, was the home of darkness and danger, and was composed of the urine of the many frogs who lived in it. This film is loosely based on this cosmology and how man interacts with it. This film was commissioned by the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, with the generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts, for exhibition at the Guadalajara International Book Fair. The city of Los Angeles was the invited guest to the book fair, and this film was exhibited in the pavilion, devoted to Los Angeles and designed by John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects, Inc.

Capra's statements ring just as true today as more than a decade ago when we did this interview- i animated buddhist iconography (a dharma wheel and sanskrit text, with some diagrams of nuclear physics calculations)- with Capra wisdom on sustainability. parochial and short term interests are unsustainable- change will be forced upon us, or we can do it ourselves.

trafikafilms, trimedia 1998, DV, 14 mins, coproduction with trimedia.cz 64 artists and other travellers from Prague and Berlin ride a bus to Bosnia to make an art action at a high school on the former front lines of the savage Sarajevo seige. There are mines in the grass, and in the basement. The walls of the room they sleep in are riddled with bullet holes, and the windows blown out. They paint a mural, hold a fashion show with local models, throw a techno party. The blood stains still on the dance floor are painted over just in time by graffiti artists. Festivals: Prague Indies, Chicago Underground Film Festival, Antimatter.|

A site specific single channel video installation sponsored by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs with generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts The ontology of this piece was inspired by Native American tribes who inhabited Southern California. The Chumash Indians believed that there were three worlds: the world which we inhabit as well as the one above and below us. The world above was the sky and the home of the eagle, sun, moon and the supernatural; the middle world, where humans reside, was held in place by a giant serpent which sometimes moved and caused earthquakes; and the lower world, the underworld, was the home of darkness and evil spirits. Ann Kaneko and I wove this cosmology to combine the natural landscape with chumash motiffs and the contemporary machine culture. It would have been too easy set up these points as binary opposites- instead we attempted to show them all together as a fluid continuity in the evolution of the Southern California landscape.
