Journey of Hanuman is not so much a film by conventional definition as an art piece – a meditative poem in audiovisual form. With layered cinematography, evocative music and voice-over poetry by the Noble Prize writer Octavio Paz, Mexican filmmaker Lola Creel hopes to “preserve the moments of India that have not been disturbed by globalization and are related to the spiritual ancient knowledge of that country”. Rather than relying on a traditional narrative, Creel uses her countryman Paz’s lyric experience of India (where he served as an ambassador from 1962-1968) to loosely link visual scenes ranging from a silhouetted snake charmer in front of the Palace of Winds in Jaipur to the ritualistic washing in the Ganges. There are also underwater shots inspired by the Sanskrit epic The Ramayana and a combination of classical Indian music and an original soundscore from the Kronos Quartet.

The is the 1920x1080 version for large monitors and high-speed internet connections. For the 1280x720 version that requires less bandwidth, you can watch it at: http://vimeo.com/84477950 Mt. Tamalpais, sentinel peak of the San Francisco Bay Area, is considered sacred by many... native and non-native alike. In 1950, the military bulldozed the highest peak of the mountain to build an Air Force Station tasked with directing jet interceptors and short range Nike nuclear missiles against the potential threat of Russian nuclear bombers. By 1980 the base was obsolete and summarily closed. The military literally walked away from dozens of structures, leaving behind a huge toxic mess on the mountain. Through the use of historical footage, 3D reconstruction, interviews and breathtaking timelapse cinematography, this 20-minute film, narrated and co-written by Peter Coyote, explores the history of Tam's West Peak and how local citizens have been fighting to restore their mountain to a natural state. www.invisiblepeak.com © 2014 Gary Yost

                    from Kristin Atwell / Added

Co-directed and written by Kristin Atwell, "Theodore Roosevelt Dam: Arizona's Living Legacy" is narrated by Peter Coyote and produced by the team at Salt River Project. We won the EMMY Award in 2011 for the Best Historical Documentary in the Rocky Mountain Region. SYNOPSIS In Territorial Arizona, farmers battled to control the erratic cycles of the Salt River. They faced blistering heat, torrential floods, and punishing drought. To prosper in such harsh conditions required ingenuity and fortitude. These settlers had to create a dependable water supply. Their vision was a dam of unprecedented size and scope, unlike any Reclamation project ever attempted in the United States. At the turn of the 20th Century, Engineers, stonemasons, and laborers from around the globe traveled to the remote Western Frontier to build the world’s largest masonry dam. When it was completed it created the biggest man-made body of water on earth at that time. Over the past one hundred years that steady water supply has turned the Salt River Valley into a metropolis of the Southwest.
