Prescription labels are difficult for many people to understand, and misinterpreting the instructions can have serious consequences. At the Patient Education Library at Chandler Hospital, librarians work to help people understand their condition by using plain language, language that is clear and helps the patient focus on what they can do.

                    “Life is not always supposed to be fair.” Born in Louisiana in 1960 to a father who was a pharmacist, Mary Ann descends from an Irish and French background. Married to Jeffrey, she is mother to three children, Greg, Amy Lynn and Matthew and loves to travel and explore different countries. Developing tongue cancer in 1993, she was treated at MD Anderson and came very close to death. A pivotal point in her life, she says the experience “changed my life in many ways.” Having to deal with depression, she found herself in through her faith and is now happy with her family and her dog Spot.
