In April 2014 I was invited by RAPA, RED Korea, and DVInside to conduct a workshop in South Korea to demonstrate the UHD 4K Workflow from capture through post production. Broadcast and Cinema Professionals experienced shooting 4K+ resolution, color grading, editing, and finishing for 4K Delivery over the course of 3 days. Many working with 4K+ for the first time. We used Red Epic Dragon Digital Cinema Cameras and explored the full Adobe Creative Cloud Suite as well as DaVinci Resolve and Redcine-X Pro. This is a compilation of various footage I shot at 6K on Red Epic Dragon with Zeiss Ultra Primes, Schneider Cine-Xenar III Primes, Voigtlander, and Canon Lenses. For me, this was a tremendous and unforgettable experience. Phil Holland - PHFX.COM

This is the final color grade and cinema level finish on my little short shot on Red's new Epic Dragon camera. We screened it in 4K in Hollywood earlier today and it looked fantastic on the big screen. I'd like to share that version here, although not the 4K one. The big difference between this version and the previous version posted here: https://vimeo.com/76185380 Is that this is a full finished color grade made for delivery. I wanted to show both "out of the can" and finished versions of this particular piece. There is also a UHD4K resolution one up on Youtube now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyIAV5YVjA4 I invite you to watch the higher quality version below as even at this 1080p resolution you can see how the web re-compression destroys subtle detail. If you'd like to see a higher quality 3.8GB 1080p ProRes 422 version: https://copy.com/tlT8Vs0P9vRA Also, a link to some selected UHD4K resolution stills: http://www.artbyphil.com/cgi-bin/phfx_cbbslider.cgi?images=cinematography/2013_redDragon_ItsJustPaint_CineGrade_Stills Or download all those stills in a .zip file: http://www.artbyphil.com/temp/reduser/phfx_itsJustPaint_UHD4KSelectedStills.zip A behind the scenes still of the Carbon Fiber Dragon camera on set: http://www.artbyphil.com/phfx/photography/2013_10_03_RedDragon_ItsJustPaintBTS/bigs/phfx_ItsJustPaintBTS_0001.jpg Details about the project are the same: Red Epic Dragon (Carbon Fiber) Shoot Date: 10.03.2013 Format: 6K WS, 24-96 fps Rated ISO: 800 – graded in post ISO 320-2000 (no noise reduction) Lenses: Schneider Cine-Xenar III Primes: 18mm-95mm @ T2-T8 Filters Used: Occasionally an ND .9 Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CC Quick Color Grade in Redcine-X Pro Final Color Grade in DaVinci Resolve Final Finish in After Effects Camera and Post: Phil Holland - phfx.com Paint: Julia Chavez Subject: Shakti Shannon Music Track: Nine Inch Nails - 32 Ghosts IV – Used with permission (Creative Commons) Special Thanks: Jim Jannard Jarred Land Justin Jones Brent Carter And the rest of the Red Team Thanks for watching. I took a brief trip down to East Jesus with my Red Scarlet X to visit friends and to pay my respects to the late Charles Russell; a brilliant man and a friend to many. East Jesus is an experimental, habitable art compound located in the famous Slab City of Niland, CA. It is a creation in progress originally built by Charles Russell and his friends. We feature a sculpture garden, art cars, Walter the 35 degree bus, as well as a selective residency program for artists and sustainability experts. Charles passed away in 2011 and East Jesus is currently being maintained by his friends. To learn more about East Jesus check out: http://eastjesus.org There's much to see and do in East Jesus. It's a great place to get away from the city and sit around a nice campfire with some good folks. The Salton Sea is just a hop, skip, and a jump away. Worth the trip in you're in LA. Charles is missed by many and it's somehow fitting to wrap these East Jesus visuals within the serene sounds of Nine Inch Nail's Ghosts 28 IV. The music is licensed through Creative Commons and used with permission. If you would like to see this video at 4k: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qT9muMKOyY
