NetGain: Working Together for a Stronger Digital Society, hosted at the Ford Foundation on February 11, 2015. Leading figures from government, philanthropy, business, and the tech world are coming together to launch a major new partnership, explore shared principles, and get ambitious about the next generation of innovation for social change and progress. In this panel discussion, foundation leaders Mitchell Baker of Mozilla, Chris Stone of Open Society Foundations, and Darren Walker of the Ford Foundation discuss how foundations can best ensure that technological progress is used a force for social good rather than one of surveillence and inequality. Moderated by Gwen Ifill. Take the Netgain Challenge, and help us focus on the most significant challenges at the intersection of the Internet and philanthropy: www.netgainchallenge.org

Christine describes herself as “a lifelong creative doer” and someone who “explores human conditions, trying to convey them in her work.” Salwa says that she “finds happiness in visually sharing stories and conceptually strong ideas, hoping she can make people ‘think’ about issues.” These two young women decided to bring their perspectives and creativity together to produce “Hunger’s Core”, an animated short that tackles world hunger – and took first place Animation in the 2014 Adobe Youth Voices Awards. 2014 marked the 7th year of SMYL's fanciest event: The Giver. And once again, together we were able to raise an incredible amount of money and awareness for an incredible cause. To be specific, this year we raised over $35,000 in support of the Inner City Health Program at St. Michael's Hospital and our pledge to raise $1,000,000 for our Inspire 2018 campaign at St. Michael's, which will support a new 17-storey patient care tower at the corner of Queen & Victoria St. Thank you to all our special sponsors and to everyone that came out and Gave'r with us.
