Have you ever wanted to build a photography business that you love? Have you found yourself wanting to take your photography – take your brand, deeper? Well, we are stoked to welcome Kevin Kubota to the show today! Kevin is a photographer, educator, and author with photographic roots reaching over 30 years deep. He has been featured in American Photo magazine as one of the Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World and was named one of Nikon’s Legends Behind the Lens. He was awarded the Monte Zucker Humanitarian Award, and he is recognized as one of the Most Influential People by Shutter Magazine. His passion for educating photographers inspired KubotaImageTools.com, a resource for software, training, and creative hands-on workshops. We have followed Kevin’s work for many years, as well as used several of his awesome editing tools, and we recently had the honor of meeting him at WPPI this year and being one of the speakers in his Photographers Ignite series. We are so inspired by how he has chosen to make his art matter, from helping other photographers all over the world to launching Workshops With Purpose, where he leads other photographers on international charitable photography based endeavors. IN THIS SESSION YOU’LL LEARN: Why being an apprentice was the best way to learn the business of photography What he learned while selling shoes at Nordstrom that helped him stand out from the crowd Why doing a social-media fast might be the best thing for your business

A brand is everything from your work to your words. I find that often times in an industry so saturated, it's easy to forget OUR brand. We may lose sight of who we are not only as photographers…but as people. I hope that this message can inspire others to better brand their business and stay true to themselves.

How can anyone afford the time and cost of a personal project? How can a photographer really make a difference in the world? One week after picking up a video camera for the first time, my wife and I accidentally created a feature-length documentary film. Now it's helping change the lives of children in Guatemala's post-civil war slums. The film project (www.lostboysofparadise.com) demonstrates just how affordable -- even profitable -- personal charity can be for a studio. Now we want to inspire more photographers to leverage the superpower of visual media to change the world.. and energize their businesses. Having spoken at WPPI's "I Want 10" platform in early 2013 and begun a series of articles on the subject for Shutter Magazine, we're excited to bring this fresh perspective to Photographers IGNITE!
