        • PILSEN | European Capital of Culture 2015 | making of visual / illustrations

from Jan Brukner alias JohnBruk Added

As a part of a promotional campaign ECC 2015 (European Capital of Culture) I worked on the realization of key visual and several illustrations thematically connected with the Czech town of Pilsen. Pilsen is mainly famous because of the traditional beer industry. People abroad even think of the name "Pilsen" only as a brand of beer and they have no idea that this is also a town in the Czech Republic. Creative director Petr Hanousek came to me with the idea of motif, which would literally made a cut in ingrained perception of the town. The idea of didactic cut through a beer mug laid on the table together with inspirational claims: "Pilsen is not just a beer", "Pilsen open up", "Open your pilsen paradise!. This cut was planned to show other overlooked treasures of the city. It was a very interesting and creative collaboration and it was an honor for me that I could participate in this project and contribute a little to the promotion of Pilsen and Czech Republic. more about project :http://jan-brukner.cz/index.php/en/projects-list/23-illustration/184-plzen-ehmk-en used techniques : digital painting, 3D graphics/ cgi, photomontage and creative retouching tools : Maxon's Cinema 4D, BlackMagic Fusion, PS Director / Creative director : Petr Hanousek Visual direction / Digital artist : Jan Brukner -MAKING OF- tools : BlackMagic Fusion, Maxon Cinema4D, PS music in video : Light Orchestra Cue by Pat Andrews ____________________________________________________ European Capital of Culture ABOUT PILSEN - EVENT : http://www.plzen2015.cz/en/ new facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/Pilsen2015english ____________________________________________________ 2015

Love and Capitalism is a short documentary shot on Super 16mm filmed in Spring of 2014. The film aims to capture a small sample of the dichotomy between the Gold Coast and Pilsen neighborhoods in Chicago. People from each give us brief ideas about what they love and how capitalism is or isn't working for them. The film is inspired by Jean Rouch and Edgar Morin's 1961 film Chronique d'un été (Chronicle of a Summer) which captured a moment in time in Paris.
