An exercise in trying to understand, place, figure out Pirate Jenny. Performed with sound artist Marc Gunner (and accidental screen mate), I am attempting to get to the heart PJ by listing what her adventures are, could be and have been , while also embedding myself in my work. The newest part of my Jenny.Was.Pirate.Hater project, "PJ Scores" - is an installation using piano, charcoal, text, music manuscript, gele and bamboo.

Captured from a local pirate FM radio station, some time between 1997-2003ish - can't be sure when. A famous local personality put his very special brand of humour into the broadcasts.

One of a collection of videos exploring the direct relationship between video and sound/music. Made for the solo exhibition 'Audiopathological' at W139 gallery, Amsterdam NL. Assembled after the main London Blitz, the Maunsell Forts were created to protect London and other Thames settlements/towns from the German bombers during The Second World War. Decommissioned by the Ministry of Defence in the late 1950's, the forts have been left to rot, aside from the odd pirate radio station residence back in the 60's. Project Redsand have the unenviable task or trying to get these wrecks back to some sort of habitable state, working from the only accessible/semi-habitable tower in the group. With little funding, slow progress, and the constant battering by the weather, it's a big task. Because barely anybody has been in the Red Sands Fort since the war, I felt very lucky to be able to visit. Despite the long day, incredibly early start, rain, seagull shit, rust, mould, camera issues, sunburn etc, it was a special way to spend a Saturday.
