For my physical computing class in the New Media Art department I created a polargraph, which is basically a simple printer comprised of motors, a motorshield, an arduino, and a pen gondola on some beaded cord.

Here is the second drawing from the LAB's new drawing robot. We've made some good improvement on the calibration. Our next goal is to add the servo motor so that the robot can pick up the pen while drawing, which will make detailed drawings like this one much neater. Credit: we used a vector image from 1001head.com - they make really awesome, and absurdly cute vector art.

Here is the first successful drawing that we made with our new drawing robot. It's a simple one. More good stuff to come over the coming weeks.

Every office should have one: an amazing centerpiece grabbing your attention the second you walk through the door. That’s why we set out to find the perfect eye-catcher for our creative agency. Would it be a huge chandelier? No! A colourful modern painting? No! A giant taxidermy bear? Yes! Although… we’re not very fond of killing animals for decoration. But hey, we’re a creative agency, right? We can fabricate whatever we want! And that’s exactly what we did. In cardboard. The bear was modeled in Cinema 4D, then flattened and brought to Pepakura to be printed on an Arduino open-sourced Powered Polargraph (Sandy Noble). 165 individual pieces were carefully cut and pasted together. And there it is: an impressive 3 meter high cardboard bear - impossible to miss on your next visit! SOUNDTRACK : Jahzzar - car crash (remixed)

I recently finished building this drawing machine by the excellent Sandy Noble http://www.polargraph.co.uk/ using his guide at Instructables http://www.instructables.com/id/Polargraph-Drawing-Machine/. It is build using Arduino a couple of stepper motors, wiring, cardboard and Processing. I love the results it is generating and even before I got it properly adjusted it did magic. Makelangelo, the polargraph drawing robot, is getting better all the time. This is my fourth design for a pen holder and the second design that gives the machine pen up
