                Throughout the True Stories Video Journalism unit at Southern Cross University, students will be guided by advice on video journalism and reporting by practicing journalists. Mark Willacy is an investigative reporter with the ABC and is based in Brisbane, Australia. Mark is a former foreign correspondent for the ABC in the Middle East, Iraq and Japan. He covered the Japanese tsunami and Fukushima meltdown and is the author of the book, Fukushima. Mark Willacy has twice won Australia's premier journalism prize - the Walkley Award. In 2003, he won it for his coverage of the Iraq War. He was awarded his second Walkley in 2011 for his reporting on the Japan tsunami and nuclear meltdowns at Fukushima. Mark has been nominated for Walkley Awards on eight other occasions. In this final video from Mark Willacy, he discusses the logistics of reporting from places which have been hit by disaster. He references his experience in reporting on the 2011 Japanese tsunami and the Fukushima nuclear meltdowns. He makes particular mention of self-care and the responsibility of news organisations to care for employees who may be impacted by post traumatic stress.
