Power semiconductors are designed and manufactured by high tech industry. These power devices are applied in industrial applications, traction, electric cars and the generation of wind- and solar power. Dedicated test equipment is needed for testing these key components. Hollander Research supports high tech industry with the creation of dedicated test equipment. New materials, like silicon carbide and gallium nitride, create an opportunity to make a major step forward. New device types out of new materials come with a lot of challenges. Martin Hollander builds test equipment with the target application in mind. Chip designers use it to validate the design- and production quality. Surge current test equipment stresses the silicon carbide device to extreme test conditions. Silicon carbide devices are exposed to 10 times its rated current at temperatures up to 300 degrees centigrade. The applied pulse is a half sinus waveform with duration as short as 2 microseconds. This pulse duration is more than 1000 times shorter than regular surge equipment. The advanced surge current test equipment from Hollander Research ensures a good characterization of the sensitive device. The systems from Hollander Research are modular, future proof and easy to use. Martin Hollander has a lot of experience in building dedicated test equipment for research and industry. He tested the very first silicon carbide diode back in 1997 and switched these devices at full ratings. This was a major achievement at that time. The circuit was optimized for extremely low parasitics; this way a truthful characterization was made. The design of Silicon carbide chips has been optimized since then. Knowledge and insights for this is obtained by measurements on beautiful equipment. Mietek Bakowski is professor and senior expert at Acreo in Sweden. He makes proudly use of the equipment from Martin Hollanders company. Please contact Hollander Research to discuss your testing needs; and benefit from experience. www.hollander-research.com
