The Big Valley Cardinals trekked to Palo Cedro Oct. 17, 2014, to challenge the Redding Christian Lions for the California North (8-man) supremacy. Both teams entered the contest sporting undefeated records, and with just two weeks remaining in the regular season, the winner would likely have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Big Valley stayed true to form and outscored the Lions from the second quarter on. But the end result changed with the Lions holding on for a 30-26 victory. Slide show photography by Richard Allan
