          • David Gibbs III addressing the ECRMC Board of Trustees 2 24 14

from Christ Community Church Added 277 0 0

We were a powerful presence at the ECRMC Board of Trustees meeting! Nearly 2000 people crowded into the parking lot outside of the Education Center singing praises and praying as Attorney David Gibbs III, Pastor Walter Colace, Pastor Chris Nunn, Marty Ellett, and Kori Peterson spoke on our behalf. Mr. Gibbs was able to explain to the board their right to refuse to sign the transfer agreement and reassure them that if Planned Parenthood were to sue that he and the full weight of the NCLL (National Center for Life and Liberty) http://www.ncll.org/ would be available to defend against Planned Parenthood. As Mr. Gibbs expressed, if Planned Parenthood were to sue, “…they would lose!” Despite the board's closed session vote that ignored the will of the people, we must continue our prayerful protest. We must not back down or go away. We must educate ourselves in the issue of abortion and be ready to answer the debate with loving but factual information that will educate but also heal. As much as we know that abortion is wrong, let us not forget the many many people who have been victims of the misinformation campaign led by Planned Parenthood. Proverbs 15:1&2 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness. Proverbs 25:15 By long forbearance a ruler is persuaded, And a gentle tongue breaks a bone. The women and men who have been involved in an abortion are suffering and need your compassion. It is on their behalf that we are battling Planned Parenthood. The confused and desperate woman with an unplanned pregnancy who doesn’t know where to turn needs your compassion. It is on their behalf that we are battling Planned Parenthood. The innocent unborn child who faces the death penalty because of a potential disability needs your compassion. It is on their behalf that we are battling Planned Parenthood. For these and so many others in need of your compassion, please continue to fast and pray. Please continue to stand and fight. Please continue to love and teach. Thank you, all of you, who have joined with us in this battle.

Since the passing of HB2 in the state of Texas, the entire region of South Texas has become dependent on a small but resilient clinic in downtown McAllen for safe, legal abortion care. HB2 has closed it down twice leaving poor and/or undocumented people without safe reproductive care but luckily through judicial action, the clinic is currently open to keep providing quality reproductive health care. On January 24th, 2015, the 42nd anniversary of Roe v Wade, local Catholic parishes held an anti-choice march which would pass by Whole Woman's Health Clinic during a day it would be seeing patients. South Texans for Reproductive Justice quickly organized a rally in solidarity with the clinic to show the anti choice marchers, Texas, and the World what community solidarity looks like. Shot and cut by me.
