1. 2.5D

This is part of a final project for a class, it involves compressing video that has depth information. I might repeat the work with a stereo camera later (or even better a lidar) but for now I went ahead with a simulated source that uses opengl to produce depth information from the z-buffer. What's shown here is the the depth information is taken to construct a 3D grid of voxels that represents the original 3D scene at low fidelity. I cheated and used position and attitude information generated from the source, I might get a registration method working eventually that will automatically derive changes in position and attitude- but I can claim there was an IMU strapped to the camera for this. Next week I'll have another video uploaded that ought to show the later steps in the process that involve image compression. http://ccmixter.org/files/DoKashiteru/17659

    • "Alice Practice" by Crystal Castles, Music Video Made with iSight & Processing

      from David Kadavy Added 2,521 7 3

I created this movie using Processing: processing.org by making a few small modifications to code written by James Alliban: http://jamesalliban.wordpress.com/2008/10/13/motion-trails-v01/ I essentially stood in front of my iSight, danced, and waved a lemon, a tangerine, and a red shirt in front of the camera, while tapping the trackpad button to clear the screen. It was tricky to get the timing right, since the frame rate is altered by how much is going on in the video.

COMPLETELY ripped off this code from James Alliban: http://jamesalliban.wordpress.com/2008/11/16/colour-detection-in-processing/ Uses my iSight camera and http://processing.org Imagine interacting with your computer through your iSight camera: resizing photos, "swimming" through articles, etc.

TouchOSC on the iphone talks to processing over wifi. The display on the PC is coded in processing (not by myself). All the controls you see here will soon be controlling parameters of my own processing sketches, which could then control other things like Ableton live or Arduino.

                      What are Tags?

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
