1. Beacons

Beacons Daniel Arsham/Snarkitecture Miami FL 2012 The illumination of the Marlins Ballpark super-columns uses the simple concept of revealing and concealing through the use of light. Standing nearly 200 feet in height, each of the four columns fades up and down as if the light is a breath, appearing and disappearing in subtly varying rhythms. The scale of the columns and the oscillating light allow this effect to be visible at great distances through the city, acting as a beacon drawing fans to the ballpark and announcing events occurring within. This artwork is part of the collection of Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places program, made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.

Here's the teaser of "Conversation with Alice", an interviews project to be publicly presented at Altes Finanzamt (Berlin) on Tuesday, May 8th. The project started in April 2012, when curators Carolina Jimenez and Nicola Ricciardi asked a group of selected artists to imagine a site-specific exhibition in (or with) a particular temporary project space: a small, portable greenhouse named “Alice”. Goal of the project was to investigate different methodologies and approaches dealing with the concepts of space, commissioned art and public intervention. The video shows how artists responded to such assignment and how they reacted to such space: some decided to play with it, some decided to have it as a background. Some other decided to invert the roles of artists and curators… "Conversation with Alice" is project supported by MAZEN and Node Center for Curatorial Studies -Berlin. The video has been directed and edited by Alessandro Pinferetti and Mattia Dal Bello. Music by The XX ("Into").

Absences is a series of electronic interventions in natural environments. Autonomous electronic devices are deployed within various ecosystems in the manner of ephemeral experiments. They interact with the surrounding elements through different relational strategies. Taking shape at the frontier of electronic art and environmental art, it proposes a meditation on solitude and association, natural and artificial, interaction and contemplation.
