Public transit in Manila is the pulse of the metropolitan area. Modes of transport are usually beaten down vehicles and motorcycles painted and refurbished in either flamboyant or cheaply practical styles. This is a tricycle ride from Marikina (a subdivision of the large Metro Manila area) to the Santolan Light Rail Transit Station. This is a documentary created by Georgetown University undergraduate students for Prof. Bernie Cook's American Civilization III course. The students walked by the streetcar tracks in Washington, DC's Georgetown neighborhood on a daily basis, and yet none of them really knew the story behind them. As a result, they decided to explore the history of those tracks and how they fit into the larger stories of DC and how it was shaped by public transit. In the end, it became clear that the tracks represented many things: nostalgia, technology, history, controversy, and historic preservation to name a few.
