The NanOpinion project started in May 2012 runing 30 months. Central to the project was to investigate how opinion on this new generation of technologies is shaped, and how to inform public debate, especially among hard to reach groups as well as to enhance education. Is the Church in decline? Does the Christian faith deserve a place in public debate? Using data from a wide range of sources, Karl Faase argues that the Christian church, which started at the margins of society, has throughout history been a major force for positive change. He says the latest attack, by the 'new atheists' is nothing particularly new, and despite their claims, vast numbers of Australians still see a place for religious values in private and public life. Indeed, in developing nations Christianity is growing at a rapid rate. This challenging and illuminating presentation was the keynote address at the Christian Schools National Policy Forum's Celebration Dinner, held in the Great Hall, Parliament House Canberra on May 26, 2014. Karl Faase is Executive Director of Olive Tree Media, whose ten-part documentary series Towards Belief scooped the pool at the 2014 Christian Media Australia awards for production. The series, produced by Karl's wife Jane Faase, was created over twelve months and includes interviews with thirty one of the best Christian leaders, scholars and thinkers from across the globe.
