A music video I made for musician Ben Jelen using found footage. He wanted to do a video about global warming and I pitched this idea. I was inspired by the credit sequence in Goldfinger. Simple but effective idea: project footage over your singer. Cheaper and easier than blue screen.

I recently produced this short film to try and inspire other film makers. I love watching action / sci-fi movies, so I thought, let's make one. Pulse can to mind after watching the movie Chronicle (2012). I wanted to make something with similar effects from Chronicle, but with my own twist on it. I was able to have a a lot of my filmmaker buddies help out with the making of Pulse. There were 16 guys on crew. We shot everything in one day. Then I took about 75 hours, give or take, during the post production process. Anything from creating and filming special effects plates, to creating cg visual effects, to recording sound effects to recording ADR. This stuff is what I love. The effects were the important part of this film. Explosions, grenades, guns and muzzle flashes. What more could you possible want in a movie? I also wanted to put my actors to the test with a torture scene. Having some intense moments during a film is a must to keep your audience engaged. I'll be planning on releasing a few "behind the scenes" videos over the next several weeks showing how we made Pulse. If anyone has any questions, hit me up!

See the Full Project here: behance.net/gallery/Ringling-College-Film-Opener/15527809 THE PROJECT Together with the Ringling College Office of the President, our team of five Motion Designers developed a film opener that encompasses the Ringling College brand and its majors. The array of patterns signifies the diversity within Ringling College, while not being contained by the frame. THE PROCESS Logo Design: Building on the structure of previous Ringling logos, we developed a palette of bright and sunny colors and patterns. Colors: Sun washed colors capture the beach town local of Ringling College. Patterns: Simple patterns underscore the emphasis of design at Ringling College. Style Frames: We solidified a look and story in which Ringling brings life and color to a stark white world. Animation & Compositing: Working from the style frames, we created and animated with Cinema 4D and After Effects. Finally, everything was composited together in Nuke.
