Sans dialogue ni son. No dialogue/no sound.

Finally got into film making. Breaking out with a smooth flowing film showing off the natural beauty of the waterways of Rum Island and the surrounding areas. Don't make the mistake of thinking happiness is based on human interaction. Happiness and beauty is all around you. All footage was filmed with either a glidecam or resting handheld. Diving at Morrison Quarry in Wakefield Quebec. Visited the Shark, Submarine, Boat, Plane, Bicycle and more. Water was cold at 40ft+. First time using the camera so it's a little shaky but decent. Using Ikelite 6871.50 ETTL Housing with Canon Digital Rebel T1i (500D)

This slideshow corresponds to an academic paper centred on preliminary proposals for a geographical reading of worked Cornish granite, evidenced by a sustained period of research in Trenoweth Dimension Granite quarry near Penryn, in Cornwall. Exploring a practice of geography, I weave a creative narration of my auto-ethnographic research as an apprentice sawman and mason into a discourse on time and materiality, in which I focus on processes of accumulating familiarity with material subjects, that lead to the erosion of surface structures. I also address issues arising from this research related to craft, labour practices, technologies and embodied learning. Further emphasising my focus on the collaborations of the arts and cultural geography, I go on to quantify and outline a methodological carving project that aims to connect various publics with the 170 year old quarry. Taking Ingold’s call to re-dress material culture’s emphasis on materiality over materials I argue that the residue of productions (or processes), evidenced by the dialogical revolutions of surface and mass within the quarry, might locate the granite carving as a dynamic form, materially connected to the fluidity of social space.
