www.District7Media.net @TheVoder @District7M Midtown New York City is the place to be. The lights, cars, traffic, architecture and people make the city come to life as a living, breathing, organism that never sleeps. Take a trip with this time-lapse production into the city and see the sights and sounds that create this magnificent destination. For us, this time-lapse production was produced using more than 50,000 still frames, shot over the course of 6 months traveling back and forth from Washington DC to New York City while we shot for clients. Our main goal was to capture the central part of the city in both visuals and audio. The sound effects used in this production were taken from the various locations we shot and were added in to give you the feeling of actually being there. There were multiple times during this shoot that we were chased off, either by cops or the cold. The subway shots were particularly difficult to get, especially in the wake of the Boston bombings. We were led out and in some cases followed by police officers or MTA officials who seemed intent on getting us for using tripods. The music is performed by the talented Danny McCarthy (Fracture) (Music has been licensed through Killertracks.com) ***MIDTOWN Water UFO*** We captured something we can't explain. Recently having compiled images of NY for 'New York: 3 Octobers' (running til Mar. 11 in Edmonton), I realized just how many photos I have of the city and thought this would be a good way to share my favourites...to the tune of 'Empire State of Mind' by Jay-Z (feat. Alicia Keys). www.traceytomtene.com

Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Cartier; their Holiday displays are the first things that come to mind when thinking of Christmas in New York, but did you ever wonder who's responsible for creating those fantastic designs? As the foremost designer concentrating exclusively on holiday décor and installations, American Christmas is renowned as the industry leader. From traditional to cutting-edge contemporary, their sophisticated displays and imaginative designs dazzle shoppers and visitors at the most famous retailers and landmark buildings across America. Not bad for a niche business started by a 21 year old kid straight out of college. Visit behind the scenes at American Christmas, where decking the halls is serious business.

              • License to Kill // Natalia Kills

“Hi, I’m Kills,” says the petite brunette with a Betty Page bob and giant shades. We’re at the storied East Village boutique Trash and Vaudeville, an institution for rockers and people who want to dress like them for the last 35 years. We knew there’d be fireworks when we brought Natalia Kills to T&V. The 24-year-old singer/songwriter has been making waves ever since being discovered by wil.i.am and signed to Interscope/Cherry Tree Records. But don’t assume that Kills, whose debut album Perfectionist drops next month, is just another pretty face on the scene. A remarkably self-assured artist, she writes and produces her own material, and directs her own videos. Edgy, dark and sexy, her clips add to a self-created mythology of the girl who grew up in Northern England dreaming of one day leading her own motorcycle gang. Shopping proved to be a welcome return to norm after spending day after day on a tour bus. Kills has been dotting the country as she opens for Robyn’s TK tour, and has hardly had a moment to breathe, let alone visit the local haunts. Guided by T&V’s legendary manager Jimmy Webb, who regaled us with tales of everyone from Slash to Angelina Jolie stopping by the shop over the decades, Kills tried on an eclectic mix of gear. Designer Prince Peter, a friend, even stopped by before it was time to pack up and head to Radio City for the night’s performance. It’s just another night in the life of an artist poised on the brink. As she stopped to give hugs to a pair of fans who waited in the rain for a glimpse of her outside Radio City’s backstage entrance, we were stunned by how open and giving the singer is one-on-one, in spite of her badass stage presence. Natalia certainly kills, but she also has a lot of heart. http://Arcade44.tv

Sarah Geledi, actress starring in the film: When I found out Bruce was playing an ”intimate” gig at the historic Apollo Theater in NYC (2012), I knew I had to do everything in my power to be there. My husband and his filmmaking partner were planning on shooting a short student film in New York in March and wrote a storyline inspired by my fascination with Bruce and the upcoming show. We shot the entire film in 3 days and used beautiful Manhattan and Brooklyn as our settings. We even have a cameo by our friend Peter Hale (Allen Ginsberg‘s former assistant and keeper of his estate) offering me a copy of Allen Ginsberg's HOWL at the lovely Cowgirl restaurant in Greenwich Village. There are no Bruce or E Street Band cameos, but we did film in front of the Apollo on the night of the show (an hour and a half before showtime!) I unfortunately did not make it inside (it was nearly impossible without a VIP ticket), but I still had a fabulous time shooting this film. This is our cinematic love letter to Bruce and New York City, wrapped up in Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Hope you enjoy watching as much as we did making it.

                  • Fans Wait Hours Outside for Free Tickets to NFL Draft

                    from Matt Townsend Added 174 0 0

The Ferocity with which NFL fans follow their beloved sport never ceases to amaze. One of the few NFL events fans can attend for free is the NFL Draft, which Radio City Music Hall in New York hosted on Saturday, April 26. The thousand or so free tickets are handed out on a first-come basis. The first fan, Billy Walsh from Rockaway Beach, N.Y., got in line at 2:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon. He would wait until 10 a.m. the next morning to get a free wristband that would allow him to get into the draft that started at 3 p.m. At it's peak, the line for tickets stretched three long city blocks and included an estimated 2,500 people -- some dressed and some painted in their team colors. All this for an event in which the NFL commissioner simply reads each team's pick into a microphone and walks off stage? "To us, it's like our Super Bowl," said Walsh, a San Francisco 49ers fan. "To us it's important."
