Sage Spirit - The American West At A Crossroads is a book and conservation campaign by conservation photographer Dave Showalter, published by Braided River Publishing. With outreach partners Audubon Rockies, The Wilderness Society, and the Sierra Club Wyoming Chapter, we share the story of the only Sagebrush Sea and it's remarkable biodiversity . The Greater and Gunnison Sage-grouse are the imperiled icons of this ecosystem that Wallace Stegner called the Geography of Hope. Here, western valleys and basins are threatened by a burgeoning old and gas industry that risks wildlife, western heritage, our western way of life, and inspiration for the human spirit. We're working with conservation leaders for a sustainable future. Join us! www.daveshowalter.com www.braidedriver.org www.rockies.audubon.org http://wilderness.org http://www.sierraclub.org/wyoming

A group of children working in a dark coal mine unearth an ancient relic, and accidentally release a creature of light. We built every detail from scratch and by hand. The sets were made of paper, the helmets made from Home Depot scrap, and they actually projected onto the walls and onto each other. The light creature was also a light painting, created frame by frame. Be sure to check out the BEHIND THE SCENES documentary: https://vimeo.com/115368371

Gamma: HDTV :: https://vimeo.com/88823742 I had the pleasure of working on a collaborative project with Producer Dave Manzo and Production Company Pretty Damn Sweet (Directors Rick Sebeck and Steve Gifford). I shot behind the scenes with dialogue for Kelly G. Ireland to compile, but after seeing so many fun moments in the footage, I couldn't resist putting something together. I also shot a sequence on the Freefly MōVI M10 in the dark caves to be used in the music video. A HUGE thanks to all our crew and talent for their generous support that made this project possible... https://vimeo.com/channels/robotvillage http://davemanzo.com/ www.prettydamnsweet.com www.get-kinetic.com Primary equipment used: Freefly MōVI M10 Redrock microRemote Wireless Bundle with Universal Fingerwheel Controller Manfrotto BHDV 561 Monopod Sachtler 0760 FSB-8 Tripod Canon 5DIII Canon T4i Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM Lens Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens SmallHD DPS-SDI Shure VP83F LensHopper Shotgun Microphone

Gamma: HDTV :: https://vimeo.com/88304697 Whether it’s commercial or documentary work, there is often the opportunity to include static elements such as photographs, handwritten letters, or drawings within your film as part of the story you are telling. The challenge is to find a creative way to incorporate images into your video without pulling the viewer out of the story. Cutting to a digital pan and zoom effect can really break your flow. How do we shoot a printed photo, or static element in a way that adds to the story, has an emotional depth, and doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb? Tags
