(ex-VHS sorry for poor quality) This BBC News expose was widely acclaimed at a time when the fate of the Amazon Rainforest was very much in the news headlines throughout the world. As with all my videos I saw that my job was to work closely with the Producer mutually selecting the pictures and audio/music, treating them if necessary and deciding the best place for them to go. I was also able to make suggestions to the script. It is very much a team effort.

The ambience of the pre-dawn moments in the rainforests of the tropical Americas is awe inspiring--sitting in a canoe in pitch black as a troop of howler monkeys vocalizes then suddenly stops is a memory i will cherish my whole life.

Emily Readett-Bayley (emilyreadettbayley.com) has been working directly with craft co-operatives in Indonesia since 1990. She is also currently part of the Katingan Project, an initiative to reduce deforestation and grow economic opportunities in the Borneo rainforest. We filmed this video last February to give an idea of the work process behind some of Emily's products. It's also a great illustration of how work and wealth is spread throughout the ethical craft co-operatives. The wood you can see here in the video is called Albizia, which is from a fast growing tree that the farmers often plant around their paddy fields.
