During a recent filming trip to document one of the World's most endangered bird species, the Bali Starling, I shot this to illustrate the habitat range of one of the nesting pairs. This Temple is one of the more revered on the island and is frequently the chosen location for any number of the ceremonial aspects of the islands predominant Hindu population. Shot using a GoPro Hero3+ I used the timelapse setting of one image every 5 seconds and then edited in Lightroom using the LRTimelapse Plug In.

Two male Manakins singing is a rare sight because they usually only do so solo, but these two males have paired up it seems. Observed in Curi Cancha Reserve, located in Monteverde, Costa Rica.

New Zealand's iconic native bird, the kiwi is under threat with only some 70-thousand left in the wild. The kiwi is an odd looking bird; short and round with a long probing beak. These rare birds are under threat primarily from introduced predators. In the wild most of them do not reach adulthood. But efforts to breed kiwi in captivity in New Zealand are increasing. At the Auckland Zoo, eggs are brought in from the wild. Once hatched, the chicks are reared for about three to four weeks and then taken to a predator-free island for further growth. Officials at Auckland Zoo hope that through continued conservation and breeding programs, these cute birds will grow and live for the generations to come.
