    • Cosmic Fools - The Wizard

      from Leslie Verbeeck / Added

Video by Cosmic Fools performing The Wizard Produced, directed and edited by Leslie Verbeeck
Cast: Agostinho Macaringue Cinematography by Bert Temmerman *IMPORTANT*
This video was shot about two years ago. Most of its locations don't exist anymore and the band is put on hold for awhile. Due to a fall out with the main actor we never got to finish this fantastic project. With the story not complete I refused to put anything out.
After a period of 'artistic' stubbornness I decided to make a montage with what we have, after all it was a shame to throw all that magical footage away. What you see is what we shot on one day. We planned for a two day shoot, so basically you're only seeing half of the story. The song is an ode to Robert Lee Burnside, an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist who lived much of his life in and around Holly Springs, Mississippi. R.L. Burnside (nicknamed Mr. Wizard) plays guitar like the world is coming to an end. His electric sounds follow in the boogie-drone style of John Lee Hooker and Fred McDowell, but take the blues over the edge with overdriven and feedback-laced, open-tuned guitar work. He is at times sloppy, at times drunk, but amazingly, Burnside’s songs exude a down-and-dirty sweaty atmosphere no matter where you listen to them. Essential albums are "First Recordings", "Too Bad Jim" and "Burnside on Burnside". The Cosmic Fools are a stoner-blues band from Ghent, Belgium. Born under a cosmic sign and blessed with a passion for music; Adam Rodenburg, Tanguy Van Durme and Tim Steyaert began their musical crusade in 2005. They started out playing White Stripes-covers and ended up creating their own powerful sound, fluctuating between robot blues, bluesrock and stonerrock. www.cosmicfools.be

Drove up to Mammoth on a whim after Easter brunch. Rain was in the forecast and went anyway. Woke up to a blanket of snow in town and got first chair at Canyon Lodge. Barely anybody on the mountain all day. 9"-12" fell up top. Great day for some mellow slashing. Song is 'Someday Baby' by R.L. Burnside

Richard Johnston's ferocious one-man-band performances captivate, amaze, and astound audiences. He plays around the world, but his home stage is the sidewalk along Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. His outdoor shows there attract larger audiences than the nightclubs lining both sides of the street. More at: http://www.maxshores.com/johnston/

Tribute to the late bluesman R. L. Burnside by his grandson Cedric who played drums with him for many years. Lightnin' Malcolm also played with R. L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough and many other blues artists from the hill country of Mississippi. The annual Freedom Creek Blues Festival was founded by the late Alabama bluesman Willie King and continues in his memory in rural Pickens County Alabama. http://www.myspace.com/jukejointduo
