    Students in Mrs. Ringquist's third grade classroom celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday, also known as Read Across America Day, by immersing themselves in all things Seuss. As part of their celebration, they enjoyed a Skype conversation with a fourth grade class from Alabama. The Alabama fourth-graders read a Dr. Seuss poem; Mrs. Ringquist's third graders shared some quiz questions about the life of Mr. Seuss.

      The autistic support class and the early childhood class of GAHS visited the district's 3 elementary schools to celebrate Read Across America for the third year in a row. Reading Dr. Seuss books and instructing students through a series of activities related to the book choices, these GAHS students spent all day modeling the importance of reading.

        February 25, 2012, Targets across America hosted a reading day in honor of Dr. Suess and the Read Across America program. As a way to target deliteracy in children, Read Across America holds an annual reading day on Dr. Seuss' birthday of the famous children's books.           For "Read Across America" week, I visited numerous classrooms and shot footage of students being read to by district role models. I also interviewed the principal in charge of organizing the event, as well as Springfield's superintendent. After I edited it together, it was featured on the district's Web site and Facebook page.

            We are so lucky at Dryden Elementary. Third Grade artists had their artwork featured all day long on WTTW in honor of Dr. Seuss' Birthday and Read Across America.                   On March 2, 2011, Ivanhoe students and staff celebrated Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss' 107th birthday. On that day they brought books to life! Everyone was encouraged to dress up as a favorite character from a book.  They gathered in the lower yard for "Read Across Ivanhoe", a schoolwide silent reading event. They sat in formation to create a giant "I."
