    A flock of exceptionally loud red-winged blackbirds takes advantage of irrigation water at a Sonoran Desert Farm. You'll also get a glimpse of some beautiful white Brahman cattle. All this while I was testing the zoom capabilities of a hand-held Canon SX60SH camera.

      Standing at the observation platform on Pungo Lake in Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in NC as thousands of Red-winged Blackbirds stream by just before sunrise. This short clip shows what it was like for over 10 minutes as a long streak of birds flies in a wavy pattern out to adjacent farm fields to feed.

        January 2nd 2014 was a partly sunny day before the rains came. At Smith Lake in Happy Valley, this group of Robins was both sun-bathing and having real baths at the same time. They were just a small portion of the 100's of wintering Robins around the lake this afternoon. By the way, the loud bird call in the background emanated from some Red-Winged Blackbirds in the tree I was standing under.
