We continue with our video summaries of the last Broad.cat 2009. It's Jeff Conrad's turn, head of design at the prestigious creative agency Red Bee Media, who talked about the importance of insight as a key element to multiply the audience of a television channel. In general terms, this means searching for a concept that connects with the emotions that move people to act in the manner that they act. This identification results in target audience fidelity, commented Conrad, who argues his case with real-life channel examples (such as Dave, Gold or Alibi) which have grown exponentially since their repositioning by Red Bee Media. http://www.broad.cat

              • Making of Beijing Olympics TVC

                from Jay Hubert Added

In May 2008, I worked on the final Beijing Olympic TV commercial put out by the Beijing Olympic Committee as an assistant director and translator. The British director Mark Chaudoir asked me if on top of my other duties I could take some still pictures of the production. After the first manic day of shooting, he asked if I could also bring my video camera the next two days and get some video as well (on top of getting stills, which was already on top of my assistant directing and translating duties… I had my work cut out for me!). In the end I managed to snag just enough footage and pictures to piece together this little behind-the-scenes promo for Mark to take back to London with him. We premiered it at the karaoke wrap party to a response almost as overwhelmingly positive as the one Mark received for his moving rendition of 'Hey Jude'. I have to admit this was one of the funnest jobs I've ever worked on! A video of the finished commercial is available on Mark's website: http://markchaudoir.co.uk/showVideo.php?video=10637170&album=mc-CommercialsPromos
