(This is the long and uncut version of this video. A shorter and updated version will be available March 2014) This film was shot and edited in April 2013. It describes some of the impacts of industrialisation, specifically the mining boom, on the indigenous people of Northern Scandinavia, the Sami. The land accessible to them for reindeer herding is being constantly restricted as more and more industrial developments expand. This process is forcing the Sami to assimilate into Swedish mainstream society, and thus lose not only their traditional livelihood, but also their unique connection to the land. Unless something is done soon, the reindeer herders of Northern Scandinavia will soon be gone. For more details go to nofrontiersmedia.com or contact Kim Paul Nguyen on kim.paul.nguyen@gmail.com.

In Lapland Sàmi people have been used to herding reindeer for millennia. Over the past few decades a lot has changed in the life of this last indigenious people of Europe. However, amidst new technologies some Sàmi still try to live their life as free and as original as possible. Many thanks to the great encounters in a land far north!
