One astronaut's journey through space and life ends on a hostile exosolar planet. Grounded is a metaphorical account of the experience, inviting unique interpretation and reflection by the viewer. Themes of aging, inheritance, paternal approval, cyclic trajectories, and behaviors passed on through generations are explored against an ethereal backdrop. If you're new to the project, you can catch up here http://hi.projectpedal.com writen by amanda: so this is part 3. initially we planned on making this three parts. first the story of our break-up, followed by the story of our relationship, and ending with the decision for me to continue working on pedal. a few days ago we decided to end it after the 2nd part. mostly because it was getting too long. we plan on adding the 3rd part to a future episode, most likely the next episode. i have to say that mike and i are both very worried about this episode. i am normally pretty shy and get very awkward in front of the camera.. and although i have a lot of face time in this episode, that's not what i'm worried about. i'm happy to say.. after this episode, i think i'm finally starting to get over that and warm up to the camera. i'm pretty happy with my camera time and our voice overs. so, no.. that's not what worries me. i can't speak for mike and i'm not sure exactly what his worries are, probably something like, people won't like this episode as much as the last two. but for me, i think of this episode as the story of one of the most important times in my life and i just want it to be perfect, and i don't think that it is. i'm afraid it was rushed, i'm afraid things were over looked, i'm afraid it might be boring. so.. that's that. i hope i'm wrong. i look forward to your honest comments. Edifice is about relationships built very much like a house. Isolated forms bend, flow and connect to create a unified mass. A structure that shelters and nurtures those within. Directed, shot and edited by Rogerio Silva Choreographed and performed by Carmine De Amicis and Harriet Waghorn Music by Alaskan Tapes "Then Suddenly, Everything Changed" Carmine and Harriet set out to explore a hybrid approach to Latin American dance and Contact Improvisation. The goal was to create devices and qualities to establish a singular body dialogue, starting with the connection principles of both those dances. Together they developed the hybrid partnering language that informed the choreographic process and aimed to explore themes like blurred and permeable boundaries, migration and integration, intuition and growth. As I watched the rehearsals, I was taken with the honesty of the movement and how Carmine and Harriet supported each other equally throughout. There were no gender roles and I liked that they could reverse their roles and everything would still work. I approached the shoot with this in mind and tried to capture the piece in a way that shows both their weaknesses and strengths equally. Admittedly, this was an extremely difficult part for Amanda and I to write, record and edit; it is, by far, the most vulnerable of the making-of series. Still, despite the challenges in not only creating, but especially in releasing this, the history Amanda and I shared had a strong impact during principal photography.
