An elderly gentleman attempts to retrieve forgotten memories while battling the progression and regression of the cycles of life. — A week prior to his passing, my grandfather shared with me his former aspirations of becoming a filmmaker. After numerous hardships, a narrow escape from the Nazis and an immigration to the US, the dream slowly, but surely, faded away. After his passing, I uncovered an archival trove of dust-covered 8mm film that had seemingly not been viewed by anyone for at least a generation. Mesmerized, what unfolded before me was something most people, myself included, have never witnessed before: the development and utter decline of the human body and mind. Motivated by my grandfather's unfulfilled dreams of filmmaking, I decided to piece together a film that he had already unwittingly made. quicksand is not only a personal tribute to my grandfather or father, but to anyone that has ever experienced loss. Whether it be a loss of a loved one, or a loss of memories, quicksand embodies the enigma of life and death. — Exhibited at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC Nationally Televised: Distributed via PBS stations nationwide Winner: "Special Jury Prize" - Las Vegas Film Festival Winner: “Finalist & Scholarship Recipient” – Heartland Film Festival Winner: "Finalist" - YoungArts Cinematic Competition Winner: "Best Student Film" - Fort Lauderdale Int'l Film Festival Winner: "Award of Excellence" - Best Shorts Competition Official Selection: Seattle International Film Festival Official Selection: Woodstock Film Festival Official Selection: DOC NYC Festival Official Selection: National Film Festival ~ Talented Youth (NFFTY) Official Selection: Sidewalk Film Festival Official Selection: Fresh Takes Nat'l Youth Film Festival Official Selection: Great Lakes Int'l Film Festival Official Selection: Yonkers Film Festival Official Selection: Indie Fest USA Int’l Festival Official Selection: Los Angeles Indie Film Festival Official Selection: San Pedro Int'l Film Festival Official Selection: Lovvet Film Festival Official Selection: Short of the Week Honorable Mention: Los Angeles Movie Awards — "It’s truly an inspiring piece of work, effortlessly illustrating the very stuff that makes us human in the first place—our connections to those whom we love." - Ivan Kander (of Short of the Week); http://bit.ly/17VXfm9 — imdb.com/title/tt2807940/ http://lanceoppenheim.com — Director/Cinematographer/Editor: Lance Oppenheim Producer: The Opp-Guide Featuring: Roy Oppenheim & Walter Oppenheim Music: Jóhann Jóhannsson, Sigur Rós & Maxence Cyrin Post-Production Design: J.D. Reflections about the pass of time and old age. Filmed with sony nex vg20 edited in final cut pro x. Moltes gràcies a tots, Guillem.

September 21st 2013, International Peace Day, on the Normandy beaches at Arromanches. Artists Jamie Wardley and Andy Moss include a team of international volunteers to help complete 9000 fallen figures, raked in the sand to create a massive monotone image. The Fallen are without nationality, without names. They represent a lost life, contextualising the 9000 who died during the Normandy beach landings of 6th June 1944. A longer documentary is in production and this is an early teaser to commemorate 70 years since the Normandy beach landings of 1944.

The cave from 'out of the box' in depth. Not all who lost their lives defending our liberty were on the front line. Many perished from their prolonged exposure to the cordite, (the propellent agent used in the manufacture of munitions), and others died from accidental explosions also during the process of munitions manufacture. On this remembrance day let's not forget the backroom (mostly women) workers who also lost their lives in the cause. Why this cave? This cave was used during WW2 for the storage of munitions, which were manufactured about 2.5 miles away at Swynnerton in Staffordsire. Hence the extensive brickwork. I just ran over the intended time of two minutes by a few seconds, and the silence is deliberate of course.

Many poems have been written for September 11, 2001, I made this video a while ago for the sad event. Hopefully it can appease the sadness just a a bit, I cannot believe it's been already ten years - since!
