Hungry for the future? How about a burrito? The Burritob0t™ 3D prints an edible extrusion of configurable Mexican food employing a hybrid of digital fabrication and molecular gastronomy. It’s digital gastronomy for the hungry masses. This is a video draft the forthcoming Kickstarter campaign slated for July. Burritob0t, http://burritob0t.com, is a 3D printer that prepares edible burritos within minutes. About: Burritob0t invites critical questions about the food we regularly consume, particularly in regards to fast food (labor practices, environmental consequences, nutritional value). Mexican fast food is emblematic of the assembly line: it is mass-produced in an era of modern consumables, appropriating a false authenticity. Burritob0t, in turn, aims to encourage dialogue about how and where our food is grown, methods of production, environmental impact, cultural appropriation, and, perhaps most importantly: what our food means to us. Two of our Class of 2012 alumni, Nigel McKenzie and Erich D'Atri Guiran, built a 3D printer in their final year in TWS last year. They spent many hours researching, constructing, testing and refining the printer, and made a presentation to a group of younger students in the school. They donated the printer to the school to let any students to experiment with it, and perhaps to inspire them to come up with other great projects! Nigel and Erich are now first year university students.

This is the second version of my "Wall Train". First version had four motors. This version uses only one motor. The locomotive is four wheel drive. One micro gear motor is used to drive a set of 3d printed gears, that move all four wheels, and the motor has to provide enough power to overcome gravity. The wheels are designed to maximize friction and grip, and this is accomplished by their grooved shape and rubber coating. The train is magnetically attracted to the base plate by magnets. The green base tracks are made of 1.5mm steel, cut with a laser cutter and painted with spray paint. The rail tracks are just made out of plastic, and glued on top of steel cut parts.
