    Development projects are designed to improve the lives of most people they affect. However, some projects will have a negative impact on some people—displacing their homes and/or communities, taking land, requiring them to change their profession. Such people must be assisted to a better quality of life than they had prior to the project. This video explains ADB’s policy for assisting such people, and what assistance they, their organizations, and their governments can expect from ADB projects.

      March 2008 More than 100,000 Bhutanese of Nepali origin were exiled to Nepal in the early nineties on orders of Bhutan's monarchy. But several thousand have recently been given new hope.
