              The Raiders will open the 2010 football season at home Aug. 27 against district rival Fall River Bulldogs. The Burney varsity squad will attempt to halt an 18-game skid against the Bulldogs dating back to 1998. Both schools got their first taste of competition Saturday, Aug. 21, in a round robin scrimmage at Mt. Shasta High School with the host Bears and Yreka Miners. The field was split in half for varsity and junior varsity with teams each getting 15 plays on offense and defense starting at the 40-yard line.

                      The Burney and Fall River track teams competed in the Shasta Cascade League finals on May 14, 2010, at College of the Siskiyous. In varsity boys action, Fall River's Nate Gilligan won the the 100-meter dash (11.65) and the 110-hurdles (16.61). Burney's Dylan Ferguson took the 400 (51.77) and anchored the 4x100 relay team with a first place finish time of 45.60. In junior varsity competition, the Burney girls earned a third place team finish. Miranda Gallagher won the 100 (14.18) and 200 (28.54) and anchored the 4x100 relay team with the top time of 55.99.
