Richard Thompson-Dad's gonna kill me ,by Ioccalice The song was singled out for praise by critics and featured prominently in Thompson's live performances in early 2007. This song's lyrics make extensive use of U.S. military slang (the "Dad" of the title is GI slang for "Baghdad"), and convey the thoughts and feelings of an uneasy U.S. soldier stationed in Iraq. It was subsequently used on the closing montage of the first episode of the third season of Sons of Anarchy. I was completely blown away when he arrives with an electric trio consisting of bassist Taras Prodaniuk and drummer Michael Jerome. Thompson is an extraordinary guitarist, as he let's his red Fender fly. The highlight of his set was when Thompson performed his new song called 'Guitar Heroes', where he plays a tribute of his influences that includes Les Paul, Django Reinhardt, Charlie Christian, Chuck Berry and Hank Marvin of The Shadows.

Winner of the Audience Award at the Mill Valley Film Festival, this documentary by Chris Simon and Maureen Gosling is a portrait of a Bay Area treasure: roots-music icon Chris Strachwitz, founder of Arhoolie Records and an archaeologist of deep American music. For the last 50 years, he has carried his tape recorder to sharecrop shacks and roadside honkytonks, bringing Cajun music out of Louisiana, Tex-Mex out of Texas, blues out of the country. We join him for a hip-shaking stomp from Texas to New Orleans, from Cajun country to Appalachia, on a passionate quest to preserve the musical soul of America. Featuring Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt, Flaco Jimenez, Michael Doucet, Richard Thompson, The Pine Leaf Boys and others. Directors: Chris Simon, Maureen Gosling. (US 2013) 92 min.
