BEST VIEWED IN HD, FULLSCREEN, SCALING OFF Follow me at: Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/scientifantasti | Instagram - http://instagram.com/scientifantastic | Google+ - http://gplus.to/scientifantastic I was lucky enough to be sent to Rio on assignment to shoot some Ultra HD 4K and 8K timelapse footage for a major electronics manufacturer. This video is a compilation of some of the footage I shot there. Most of the locations are within the city of Rio De Janeiro, but I also traveled to the famous Iguazú Falls on the border of the Brazilian state of Paraná and the Argentinian province of Misiones. In 2011 Iguazú Falls was announced as one of the seven winners of the New Seven Wonders of Nature by the New Seven Wonders of the World Foundation. RIO DE JANEIRO No wonder the beautiful city of Rio De Janeiro was chosen to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics. Rio de Janeiro, or simply Rio, is the capital city of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the second largest city of Brazil, and the third largest metropolitan area and agglomeration in South America, boasting approximately 6.3 million people within the city proper. Part of the city has been designated as a World Heritage Site, named "Rio de Janeiro: Carioca Landscapes between the Mountain and the Sea", identified by UNESCO in the category Cultural Landscape. Rio de Janeiro is one of the most visited cities in the southern hemisphere and is known for its natural settings, carnival celebrations, samba, Bossa Nova, balneario beaches such as Barra da Tijuca, Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon. Some of the most famous landmarks in addition to the beaches include the giant statue of Christ the Redeemer ("Cristo Redentor") atop Corcovado mountain, named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World; Sugarloaf mountain (Pão de Açúcar) with its cable car; the Sambódromo, a permanent grandstand-lined parade avenue which is used during Carnival; and Maracanã Stadium, one of the world's largest football stadiums. I hope you enjoy the video! Well, according to the timelapse travel I do, I want to show the last I've done between February and March this year and has undoubtedly been the trip that impacted me most. This time I was in India. I have been to a festival held once every 12 years on the banks of Ganges river and involving several million people. Dedicated to the pilgrims of the Kumbh Mela.

Rio is the property of Fox entertainment and Blue Sky Studios. The Comparison Reel is meant for educational purposes to demonstrate to animation students the process of shooting reference, blocking an animation, splining/polishing an animation, and final lighting for a feature film.

Rio de Janeiro in December. I spent two weeks in Brazil on vacation as a refugee from the Swedish winter. I had my Canon 7D with me and an array of lenses, a light tripod and a monopod and filmed whenever I had the chance. The 7D performed admirably in the heat and only once or twice did I get an overheating warning (and ignored it without any adverse consequences). The only problem was the weak tripod (Manfrotto 190XB) which is compact but not very steady and a Gitzo GM5561T which is almost as bulky as the tripod while being, well, a monopod and hence not all that stable. Despite the shortcomings I think the tripod in question was a good choice given its compact size. There was no chance of carrying around my big tripod anyway. As for monopods..meh..if you want a good one, it will be almost as big as a tripod and much less stable. The lenses I had with me were: Canon 50/1.4, Canon 85/1.8, Sigma 18-200/5.6-6.3 IS, Sigma 30/1.4, Tokina 11-16/2.8 Music by Rodrigo y Gabriela. Obrigado por assistirem! (Thanks for watching! - in Portuguese or so I've been told)
