‘Always peaceful’ follows 24-year-old Marat from the chaotic big city to the tranquil village where he spent his childhood summers. In this film co-produced with Marat, director Rob Eagle captures fragments of sounds and the rhythm of daily life in rural Kazakhstan. Music is as integral to their everyday rich aural environment as the cluck of their chickens and moo of their cows. A poetic and romanticised vision of village life, the film reflects the way Marat himself nostalgically views the countryside village of his childhood.
