Go here to support the finishing of THE SAME HEART: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/final-editing-of-the-same-heart/x/3452743 THE SAME HEART is a documentary project that suggests ideas to lift children out of extreme poverty...one transaction at a time. The phrase THE SAME HEART means " sharing a common vision, purpose and path". It expresses the idea behind a new initiative targeting the needs of children in the U.S. and around the world. Less than half of humanitarian aid pledged by the global community is ever delivered to those who need it. As a result, over 9 million children die each year from hunger, malnutrition and diseases we have known cures for. Even as these preventable deaths occur, global humanitarian aid has been reduced, pushing another billion people, more than half of them children, into poverty. THE SAME HEART supports a plan to place a tiny tax on the global financial sector, known as the Robin Hood Tax, to create an annual fund that can be used to provide children with the medicine they need, food and the chance to go to school. Such a tax would create a predictable flow of funds that economists estimate at several hundred billion dollars every year. These funds could then be used to help end poverty, hunger, provide medicine, access to education, help create jobs and address climate change. Money alone will not fix the problem of global poverty. It will take a new kind of partnership. THE SAME HEART follows a young Kenyan community organizer as he visits programs and communities that help themselves; a Millennium Village in Sauri Kenya, Nyumbani Village a sustainable bio friendly community for elders and HIV orphans in partnership with those who share THE SAME HEART.

The Women’s Room show “Fighting the War on Women by Running for Office" with Andrea Miller, Deputy Field Director for Progressive Democrats of America 2012 will not be known as the "year of the woman.” VA 7th District Congressional candidate Wayne Powell is fighting the War on Women. In 2012 we saw an assault on women in the forms of continued non-equal pay for equal work, redefinition of rape, introduction of the concept of legitimate rape, watered down protection in domestic violence and an all out attack on women’s healthcare and reproductive rights. The guest is candidate Wayne Powell who is running for U.S. House of Representatives challenging House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Powell gives his views many important issues: The arrest of 31 women’s rights supporters on the steps of the Virginia State Capitol in March 2012 The Robin Hood Tax Campaign The Plutocracy that some elite Republicans and Corporations are creating The U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the Dukes vs. Wal-Mart that “women are too big to be a class; however they are provided no protection under the Constitution The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) that's 3 states short of the needed 38. There is a move to remove the ratification deadline so that when 3 more states ratify the ERA, we have a new Constitutional amendment. PDA endorsed candidates that support the 3 state strategy Powell is running in Virginia, a state which attempted to force women seeking an abortion to undergo transvaginal ultrasounds at their own expense and now requires any facility that provides abortion care to meet hospital standards. Women’s healthcare including choice Why he considers opponent Eric Cantor is the leader of “coin operated government.” How does that impact women? Fred & Eric were commissioned by Oxfam to design and animate a film about the Robin Hood Tax. The campaign had been gaining support, but after eighteen months needed something to remind supporters how far they'd come, say thank you for all their support and give it a final push before the G20 in November which looks to be a decision making moment. Reflecting the campaign's early beginnings at street level, the brief was to create a film that felt 'by the people for the people'. The design used ripping newspaper headlines and graffiti style graphics. Combined with a clever choice of music and Bill Nighy's narration - the film was injected with pace and gravitas. Working with Homemade Digital, an element of interactivity was added to open and end the film adding a viral element. Encouraging viewers to share the film and help it reach a wider audience. Gail Taylor (Three Part Harmony Farm), Chris Martin (Coldplay), Mark Ruffalo (Avengers, The Kids Are Alright), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine) and economist Jeffrey Sachs star alongside other ordinary people in calling for a Robin Hood Tax. The Robin Hood Tax campaign is calling for a tax of less than half of 1% on Wall Street transactions that could generate hundreds of billions of dollars each year. A Robin Hood Tax on Wall Street will provide funding to kickstart the economy and get America back on its feet by creating jobs and strengthening public services like health care, education and infrastructure at home while tackling AIDS, global health, poverty and climate challenges around the world.

Public Services International joined with other trade unions and civil society organisations at the Rio+20 Earth Summit in Brazil in June 2012. Under the banner "A Robin Hood Tax for a sustainable world" PSI members and allies called on world leaders to bring in the financial transactions tax as a way to curb financial speculation and to fund decent sustainable jobs, tackle poverty and inequality, advance public services such as health and education, and strengthen global action against climate change.

With the 2012 campaign season moving from primary to election mode, Bill invites back to his studio master media decoder Kathleen Hall Jamieson for a closer look at the role media misinformation will play in the Obama vs. Romney TV ad slugfest. Jamieson runs the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania, including the sites FactCheck.org and FlackCheck.org. On this week’s Moyers & Company (check local listings), Jamieson discusses the sharp increase in deceptive advertising in the 2012 race, and equally-alarming new obstacles to campaign ad transparency. Later in the show, Bill talks to RoseAnn DeMoro, who heads the largest registered nurses union in the country, and will lead a Chicago march protesting economic inequality on May 18. DeMoro is championing the Robin Hood Tax, a small government levy the financial sector would pay on commercial transactions like stocks and bonds. The money generated, which some estimate to be as much as $350 billion annually, could be used for social programs and job creation — ultimately to people who, without a doubt, need it more than the banks do. Though the power and influence of Big Banking is intimidating, DeMoro and her organization have an inspiring history of defeating some of the toughest opponents in government and politics.

On the first night, at the first evening General Assembly, the GA agreed that some of us would indeed endeavour to 'Occupy' this particular corner of the park for 'at least a week'. Not knowing the law and the various interpretations of it... regarding the matter.... I thought just the weekends might be a better idea, so as not to ruffle too many 'official' feathers. But I didn't get a chance to air my over-cautiousness. A determined GA passed the motion and the rest is now part of Occupy Otautahi~Christchurch Aotearoa~New Zealand history and destiny. Here's more from those first couple of weeks :)
