1. My Japan

    from Andrew T. Orenstein Added 81 0 0

The footage for this video was recorded during my trip to Japan in May, 2014 while I was still figuring out how to use my camera. This was the greatest trip of my life, and while this short film barely captures the entire experience, I think it gives off a certain something. The meditative piano piece entitled, "Sailing" was composed and recorded by my friend Oliver Marsh in May, 2015. I think it expresses the mood I'm trying to convey. Enjoy!

I just wanted to preface this thing by apologizing for taking so damn long to put it together. Apart from it being nothing short of CIA levels of torture to endlessly look through powder footage during a January heatwave, it has been a busy year. Moving cities, dating a TON of supermodels and generally living Le Bon Vie. Whatever, it was on my list. And, now it's done. My personal shit aside….Some friends and I took a trip to Japan last winter. It was a homecoming in a sense. As much as I respect the musical aptitude, and the catchy fucking melodies, of The Vapours….I simply cannot relate when they talk about "Turning Japanese". There was no soulful conversion. There was no transformation. There was no violent culture shock. Just acceptance. As Mark Woods put it, "We have Japanese Souls". Hold your fucking horses…. it's not like we were burning our Canadian passports in the streets and renouncing ….….well, that almost happened. But, those were passionate times. Since then we have been forced to balance our basic North American responsibilities with our inherent and fierce Japanese hedonistic tendencies. Get busy watching. Stick with it. Vanilla chronological video. But, the boarding comes, and it's dick-deep. Great trip. I love you all. See you next year in Japan. I'll be the guy in the last train car rolling a 4-56, Motherfucker. Tim
